$55 Million Lotto Max Jackpot Won in Prescott–Russell, OLG Confirms

A Lotto Max player in eastern Ontario has become Canada’s newest multi-millionaire after winning the $55 million jackpot in the Friday, January 9, 2026 draw.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the winning ticket was sold in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, marking the first Lotto Max jackpot win of 2026.

The ticket matched all seven winning numbers, bringing an end to the jackpot run and continuing a streak of major wins in Ontario. Just days earlier, an $80 million Lotto Max jackpot was claimed with a ticket sold in London, Ont.

Millions More Won Across Ontario

While the $55 million jackpot grabbed headlines, thousands of additional prizes were awarded nationwide. Two tickets matched six numbers plus the bonus, each earning more than $400,000, while dozens more claimed smaller cash prizes or free plays.

In addition to the main jackpot, one $1 million MaxMillions prize was also won in the same draw. Five MaxMillions combinations were available, but only one was matched.

Winning MaxMillions numbers:
03 – 13 – 29 – 33 – 37 – 42 – 49
1 winner — $1,000,000

The remaining MaxMillions combinations were not claimed and expired unawarded.

Where Was the Winning Ticket Sold?

While the general region has been confirmed, officials have not yet disclosed the exact retail location or the identity of the jackpot winner. Municipalities within Prescott and Russell include Clarence-Rockland, Hawkesbury, Russell, Casselman, and The Nation, among others.

The OLG typically releases further details once prizes are formally claimed and validated.

What Happens Next?

With the jackpot now claimed, the Lotto Max jackpot will reset for the next draw, giving players another opportunity to compete for Canada’s top lottery prize.

Matching all seven Lotto Max numbers carries odds of roughly 1 in 33 million, while MaxMillions prizes continue to offer extra chances at seven-figure wins whenever the jackpot exceeds $50 million.

  1. Congratulations to whoever in Prescott–Russell is holding that ticket—$55 million is genuinely life-changing. I appreciate the clear breakdown of what was confirmed (region, draw date) versus what’s still unknown (retailer and winner identity), plus the added context on MaxMillions and overall odds. Hopefully OLG releases the validated claim details soon—until then, it’s a great reminder to double-check tickets and sign them.
