Jet2 has issued a major summer 2026 travel update for passengers with flights and package holidays booked, reassuring customers that operations are expected to continue normally despite growing concerns around jet fuel supplies and rising aviation costs across Europe.
The UK airline and tour operator said it has received “positive updates” from fuel suppliers, including increased fuel production and additional imports arriving from regions unaffected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The announcement comes as several European carriers face pressure from higher fuel prices, flight cancellations and the possibility of adding temporary surcharges to ticket prices.
Jet2 confirmed that customers who have already booked flights or holidays will not face extra fuel-related charges this summer. The airline said the price passengers originally booked at will remain the final price they pay.
Jet2 says “summer is on” despite fuel concerns
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said the airline remains in regular contact with suppliers and currently sees a stable picture developing ahead of the peak travel season.
He said: “We are in regular dialogue with our fuel suppliers, and the current picture is one of increased production and imports, meaning we continue to look ahead with confidence.”
Heapy added that Jet2 has already made its position clear regarding summer operations, telling holidaymakers that “summer is on.”
The company also stressed that it will continue offering flexibility and fast refunds in the unlikely event of cancellations or major disruptions. Jet2 pointed to the way it handled refunds during the Covid travel disruption period as part of its commitment to customer service.
The airline currently operates routes from airports across the UK to destinations including Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Iceland, Austria and the Czech Republic. Jet2 has also continued expanding its regional network, including services from Bournemouth Airport which began in 2025.

Other airlines facing higher fuel costs
Jet2’s update follows reports that some European airlines are already responding differently to higher fuel prices. Lufthansa has cancelled thousands of flights ahead of summer, while Air France-KLM plans to raise long-haul ticket prices to offset increasing operating costs.
SunExpress, the joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has already introduced a temporary fuel surcharge on routes between Turkey and Europe.
Jet2’s announcement stands out because the airline says it will not introduce additional surcharges for existing bookings despite wider industry pressure.
The company also highlighted new environmental data published by aviation analytics firm Cirium. In Cirium’s 2025 Flight Emissions Review, Jet2 ranked among Europe’s most fuel-efficient airlines, recording 57.9 grams of CO2 emissions per Available Seat Kilometre (ASK), while also improving emissions intensity by 3.1% year-on-year.
With summer travel demand remaining strong across the UK, Jet2 says everything is prepared for a busy holiday season and that passengers can continue booking with confidence.
