Oakridge Park Opening Today Sends Vancouver Into Luxury Shopping Frenzy

Oakridge Park officially opens today in Vancouver, ending years of anticipation around one of the largest redevelopment projects in the city’s history. Located at Cambie Street and West 41st Avenue, the transformed shopping and mixed-use destination is expected to attract massive crowds throughout opening weekend as visitors rush to explore luxury retailers, new dining concepts and the highly anticipated Time Out Market Vancouver.

The first phase of the project opens at 11 a.m. on May 28 and introduces approximately 650,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Once fully completed, Oakridge Park is expected to feature nearly 850,000 square feet of retail space with close to 150 stores, along with residential towers, office space, a rooftop public park, community facilities and public gathering areas.

According to the official Oakridge Park website, the development has been designed as more than a traditional shopping centre, positioning itself as a major lifestyle and entertainment destination for Vancouver residents and visitors.

Luxury Retailers And Time Out Market Lead Opening Day

Oakridge Park is opening with around 50 retailers already confirmed for launch day, many of them focused on luxury fashion and premium shopping experiences. Global brands opening include Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, Rolex, Tiffany & Co., Versace, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Moncler. Canadian and Vancouver-based names such as Aritzia, Lululemon and Arc’teryx are also part of the opening lineup.

Another major attraction is the debut of Time Out Market Vancouver, a 50,000-square-foot food hall bringing together local restaurants, chefs and food concepts under one roof. The market includes approximately 18 kitchens, bars, dessert counters and outdoor seating areas. Opening-week promotions and free food giveaways are expected to draw even larger crowds during the first few days.

Restaurants and vendors confirmed for the market include concepts connected to Rob Feenie, Ask for Luigi, Lunch Lady, Heritage Asian Eatery, PiDGiN and DownLow Chicken. For many visitors, the food destination is becoming just as important as the shopping experience itself.

Traffic, Parking And Transit Concerns Expected

With extremely high visitor numbers expected, transportation is becoming one of the biggest talking points surrounding the opening. Oakridge Park is offering 2,000 free underground parking stalls for the first three hours, along with valet parking services and high-tech “Find My Car” parking technology that helps drivers locate vehicles inside the large parkade.

The development is also operating temporary overflow parking and shuttle services during opening weekend from a nearby lot at 949 West 41st Avenue to help reduce congestion around the mall.

Transit officials and developers are encouraging visitors to use the Canada Line, with Oakridge-41st Avenue Station directly connected to the area. However, significant traffic delays are still expected throughout the Cambie corridor during the grand opening weekend.

The intense interest surrounding Oakridge Park reflects Vancouver’s growing focus on large-scale luxury retail and mixed-use developments.
