British comedian Russell Howard has revealed that his baby son, Felix, died shortly after birth earlier this year, describing the loss as the “most devastating time” of his family’s life.
The 46-year-old shared the deeply personal news in a statement published on social media on Friday, September 4. Howard said the death of Felix had changed his family forever.
Howard and his wife, NHS doctor Cerys Morgan, have established The Felix Foundation in their son’s memory. The organization will support families affected by miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal death and related bereavement.

In his statement, Howard said his family was changed forever when Felix died shortly after birth. He described the period that followed as one of unimaginable heartache and thanked the hospital staff who cared for the family.
Howard said the staff showed extraordinary kindness, compassion and humanity while helping him and Morgan through the loss of their son.
The couple were assigned a bereavement midwife named Lauren, who had previously experienced the loss of her own baby. She later retrained as a midwife so she could help other families facing similar circumstances.
Howard said her care meant more to the family than they could express.
He also explained that Felix was placed in a cool cot at the hospital, allowing the parents to spend precious time with their baby.
Howard and Morgan were able to hold Felix, speak to him and tell him how deeply he was loved. The comedian described those hours as some of their most treasured memories of their son.
The couple subsequently promised each other that they would try to improve the care available to other families experiencing the loss of a baby.
Howard concluded his tribute by saying:
“We miss him dearly, every single day.”
He said the family takes some comfort from knowing that Felix’s name will represent kindness, compassion and laughter, while his legacy may help other people through the darkest moments of their lives.

The Felix Foundation and O2 charity gala
The Felix Foundation will fund specialist bereavement training for healthcare professionals, hospital equipment and facilities designed to give grieving families privacy and compassionate support.
Its work will be directed toward parents, siblings and other close relatives affected by miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal death or related bereavement.
To help launch the foundation, Howard will host a major fundraising comedy gala at London’s O2 Arena on February 8, 2027.
The announced lineup includes Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, Guz Khan, Greg Davies, Mo Gilligan, Michelle Wolf and John Bishop. Howard said the performers are giving their time without charge to support the cause.

Howard and Morgan married in 2019 after beginning their relationship in 2004. They have another son, who was born in 2024, but had not publicly announced that they were expecting Felix.

His announcement comes during a busy period for British and international television, with audiences also following major entertainment events such as the 2026 Emmy Awards.
