The hardcore and metal world is in mourning after the death of Bo Lueders — founding guitarist of Chicago’s Harm’s Way and co-host of the influential HardLore podcast — who has passed away at the age of 39.
The news was confirmed on April 2 via a joint Instagram statement from Harm’s Way and the HardLore team, triggering an outpouring of grief from fans and musicians across the globe.
“It is with heavy, broken hearts that we share that our beloved Bo Lueders has passed away,” the statement read. “He will be remembered for his unwavering empathy and compassion for his friends & family and his magnetic, inimitable presence on & off the stage.” The post also asked for privacy and grace as those close to him process the loss.
Notably, the announcement included the number for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988), highlighting the growing awareness of mental health struggles within the music community.
