Four people have been taken to hospital following a reported stabbing on Bromley High Street in south-east London, prompting a major emergency response and cordons across part of the busy town centre.
The London Ambulance Service said it was called at 2:19pm on Thursday, September 10, to reports of a stabbing in the BR1 area.
Ambulance crews treated four patients at the scene before taking all of them to hospital. Their ages, identities and current conditions had not been publicly confirmed at the time of publication.
Air ambulance dispatched to Bromley High Street
The response included ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast-response vehicle, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic. London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the incident.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2:19pm today (10 September) to reports of a stabbing on Bromley High Street, BR1.
“We sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated four patients at the scene and took them all to hospital.”
Images from the area showed emergency vehicles and police officers near the pedestrianised section of the High Street. Parts of the town centre were cordoned off while emergency workers dealt with the casualties and officers examined the scene.
Witnesses reported hearing repeated sirens as police and medical teams arrived. A police drone was also reportedly seen operating above the area during the response.
Unverified local accounts placed the incident close to the KFC restaurant near the Churchill Theatre and alleged that several young men had been seen running through the area. Police had not publicly confirmed those claims, and they should not be treated as an established account of how the incident unfolded.
Police investigation and travel disruption
The Metropolitan Police had not released full details about the circumstances of the reported attack when this article was published. It remained unclear whether any arrests had been made, whether the four injured people knew one another or what may have led to the violence.
The cordons affected movement through one of Bromley’s busiest shopping areas. People travelling through the town centre were advised to avoid the immediate scene and allow additional time for journeys while police work continued.
