A Canadian lottery player is celebrating a life-changing moment after winning an eye-watering $18 million in the latest Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw.
The draw took place on Wednesday, January 7, with the winning Gold Ball number confirmed as 37383130-06. According to officials at Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), the winning ticket was sold in Saskatchewan.
While the Gold Ball jackpot delivered a massive payout, no one claimed the $5 million Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw top prize. The winning Classic numbers were 03, 09, 10, 11, 14, 24, with bonus number 05.
Still, several players came close. Eight tickets matched five numbers plus the bonus and will each collect $6,988.30. Winning tickets were sold in Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Aldergrove, B.C.
A further 159 third-prize winners across Canada will each receive $147.60.
British Columbia also saw a separate win, with a ticket holder from Delta, B.C. securing $500,000 through the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra. No one claimed Ontario’s $1 million Encore prize this time.
The last Gold Ball jackpot was won in December, when a player from Quesnel, B.C. took home $46 million. Before that, a $36 million prize was claimed in Alberta in October.
The next Lotto 6/49 draw takes place on Saturday, January 10, with the Gold Ball prize reset at $10 million.
