He has rushed for 849 yards and eight touchdowns while adding 85 receptions for 806 yards and five receiving scores. His total production leaves him near the top of the league in yards from scrimmage, underlining why his status matters so much to San Francisco’s game plan.
McCaffrey’s final status may not be confirmed until the 49ers release their official inactive list, typically about 90 minutes before kickoff.
If McCaffrey can’t play, who steps in?
If McCaffrey is ruled out (or is limited), the 49ers are expected to lean on a different backfield shape. Brian Robinson Jr. would likely take over as the lead back, with Isaac Guerendo and rookie Jordan James providing depth and rotational snaps.
