Why Puerto Rico was selected
Miss Universe executives said Puerto Rico was chosen after proposals from four potential host destinations were evaluated. Officials highlighted its pageant history, tourism appeal, event infrastructure and experienced production workforce.
Puerto Rico previously hosted Miss Universe in 1972, 2001 and 2002. The 2026 event will be its fourth time as host and the pageant’s return to the island after 24 years.
