Missing 6-Year-Old Kaylee: Police Search Underway in Whitby

WHITBY, Ontario — Police are searching for 6-year-old Kaylee after she was reported missing from Whitby, prompting a public appeal and a Child Search Alert as investigators work to establish her movements and locate her safely.

Kaylee was last seen at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, near Dundas Street East and Thickson Road. Police are asking anyone who may have seen her or has information about her whereabouts to come forward.

Kaylee Last Seen Near Dundas Street East and Thickson Road

Police describe Kaylee as a White girl about 4 feet tall with a slim build, long blonde hair and blue eyes.

When she was last seen, she was reportedly wearing a purple hooded jacket with a flower print inside, pink pants, and black, white and red shoes.

Authorities have also circulated photographs showing Kaylee in other clothing, including a yellow top and grey hoodie. Those images are intended to help people recognize her and should not be confused with the clothing description from the night she was last seen.

Child Search Alert Issued for Kaylee

The Missing Children Society of Canada has circulated a Child Search Alert for Kaylee, extending awareness of the case beyond the immediate Whitby area.

A Child Search Alert is separate from Ontario’s AMBER Alert system. AMBER Alerts are used when specific criteria involving a suspected child abduction and danger to the child are met. Other missing-child investigations can use different public notification methods.

Durham Regional Police provides official guidance about missing-person investigations on its missing persons information page.

Police Have Not Released Full Circumstances of Disappearance

Police have not publicly provided a complete account of the circumstances surrounding Kaylee’s disappearance.

Details about where she may have gone, who she may have been with or events immediately preceding her disappearance should therefore not be treated as established facts unless confirmed by investigators.

Police scheduled a 10:30 a.m. update on October 6 concerning the case. Information released during or after that briefing could provide additional details about the timeline, search or investigation.

Investigators Seek Information From Whitby Residents

Information from people who were around Dundas Street East and Thickson Road late Saturday night could help investigators establish Kaylee’s movements after she was last seen.

Even an observation that appeared insignificant at the time could potentially help police confirm or eliminate a possible sighting.

Swikblog has previously reported on an RCMP emergency alert during a Nova Scotia missing-person investigation, another case in which authorities appealed to the public for information.

A separate Canadian search involved a missing 13-year-old girl at Cultus Lake, where public awareness became an important part of the developing search operation.

Police Ask Public to Report Sightings Immediately

Anyone with information about Kaylee’s whereabouts is asked to contact Durham Regional Police Service at 905-579-1520.

Anyone who believes they are currently seeing Kaylee or believes she may be in immediate danger should call 911 and provide police with the location and relevant details.

People sharing the appeal online should use confirmed photographs and descriptions from police or recognized missing-child organizations. Unverified information can create confusion during an active investigation.

The search remains developing, and further information from Durham Regional Police could update Kaylee’s last-known movements, the search area or other circumstances surrounding the case.
