Why the jackpot jumped to $238 million
The increase follows Wednesday night’s drawing, where no ticket matched all five white balls plus the Powerball for the $218 million grand prize. When that happens, the jackpot rolls over and grows for the next drawing. This current run has been building for more than a month.
The last time someone hit the jackpot was Jan. 21, 2026, when a ticket sold in North Carolina won $209 million. Since then, the prize has steadily increased through February, crossing the $200 million mark earlier this week.

The jackpot reset to $20 million on Jan. 24 after the Jan. 21 win. Since then, it has climbed steadily: $65 million in early February, $102 million by Feb. 7, $169 million by Feb. 18, and $203 million earlier this week before reaching $238 million for Saturday’s drawing.
When is the next drawing?
Powerball drawings are held at 11 p.m. ET every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, including holidays. If no one wins Saturday night, the jackpot will roll over again for Monday’s drawing on March 2.
What are the odds?
Players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance of matching all five numbers plus the Powerball to win the jackpot. Prizes range from $2 to the grand prize.
