South Africa’s National Lottery is back this Saturday with another high-stakes draw, as players across the country chase a combined R41 million in estimated jackpots. Draw 2618 of Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 takes place on Sunday, 8 February, offering multiple chances to win big from a single set of numbers.
Estimated jackpots for Draw 2618
Players are competing for the following estimated jackpots in tonight’s draw:
- LOTTO: Estimated jackpot of R26 million
- LOTTO PLUS 1: Estimated jackpot of R11 million
- LOTTO PLUS 2: Estimated jackpot of R4 million
In total, South Africans are playing for an estimated R41 million across all three games in this weekend’s draw.
How LOTTO, LOTTO PLUS 1 and LOTTO PLUS 2 work
LOTTO is South Africa’s flagship National Lottery game. Players select six numbers from a pool of 1 to 58. During the draw, seven numbers are selected — the first six are the main numbers, followed by a bonus number. The jackpot is won by matching all six main numbers.
LOTTO PLUS 1 gives players a second chance to win using the same numbers entered for LOTTO. It is an additional game that can only be played once LOTTO has been entered, and it has its own separate draw.
LOTTO PLUS 2 offers a third chance to win with the same selected numbers. Players can only enter LOTTO PLUS 2 after playing both LOTTO and LOTTO PLUS 1, and it also runs as a separate draw.
How Lotto prizes are calculated
Lotto prizes are not fixed amounts. Instead, prize money is shared among winners within each division. A percentage of total ticket sales forms the prize pool — 48% for LOTTO and 50% for LOTTO PLUS 1 and LOTTO PLUS 2.
Each game has eight prize divisions, with winners in each division splitting that division’s share of the prize pool. If there are no winners in a division, the prize money rolls down to the next lower division according to National Lottery rules. Unwon jackpots roll over to the next draw.
