What is LOTTO, LOTTO PLUS 1 and LOTTO PLUS 2?
LOTTO is a South African National Lottery game where you select 6 numbers from 1 to 58. The lottery then draws 7 numbers from the same range – the first 6 are the main numbers and the 7th is the bonus number. The jackpot is won by matching all 6 main numbers.
LOTTO PLUS 1 gives you a second chance to win using the same numbers you played in LOTTO. It is an additional game that you can only enter once you’ve played LOTTO, and it costs half the price of a LOTTO entry. LOTTO PLUS 1 has its own separate draw.
LOTTO PLUS 2 gives you a third chance to win, again using the same LOTTO numbers. You can only play LOTTO PLUS 2 if you have already entered both LOTTO and LOTTO PLUS 1. LOTTO PLUS 2 also has its own separate draw.
How do I play LOTTO, LOTTO PLUS 1 and LOTTO PLUS 2?
- Choose your own 6 numbers from 1 to 58 on a Play Slip or online.
- Use Quick Pick to let the system randomly select numbers.
- Ask a retailer to enter your chosen numbers directly into the terminal (up to 20 boards/lines).
- Play your numbers for 1 to 10 consecutive draws in advance.
You must first play LOTTO before entering LOTTO PLUS 1, and both LOTTO and LOTTO PLUS 1 before entering LOTTO PLUS 2. Each game has its own separate draw and prize structure.
How are the LOTTO prizes calculated?
- LOTTO prizes are shared among all winners in each division – there are no fixed prizes.
- A percentage of total ticket sales forms the prize pool (48% for LOTTO, 50% for LOTTO PLUS 1 & 2).
- Each of the 8 prize divisions receives a share of the prize pool.
- Winners in a division split that division’s prize pool.
- Unwon jackpots roll over to the next draw.
