007 First Light launches globally on May 27, 2026, but players on different platforms are getting very different launch experiences. PS5 users already have preload access available, while Steam and Xbox players are expected to wait until the official unlock time before downloading the game.
IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond title will also include 24-hour early access starting May 26 for eligible digital pre-orders. Unlike many recent releases, the game is using a synchronized global launch instead of regional midnight unlocks. That means changing console regions or using the popular “New Zealand trick” will not provide earlier access.
According to the official IO Interactive announcement, 007 First Light is an original Bond origin story focused on a younger James Bond before becoming the legendary 007 agent.
PS5 Players Can Download Before Launch
PlayStation 5 currently remains the only confirmed platform with preload support. The PS5 preload size is listed around 45.6 GB, with the installed build reaching nearly 50.8 GB. Players who pre-ordered digitally can begin downloading the game before release and have it ready when servers unlock.
The PlayStation Store version also confirms DualSense features and PS5 Pro enhancements. To preload the game, players simply need to pre-order digitally through the PlayStation Store and access the download from their game library.
Steam and Xbox users do not currently have the same option. On Steam, the install button is expected to appear only when the game officially unlocks for early access or full release. Xbox Series X/S players are also expected to begin downloading once the launch window opens.

The game unlocks worldwide at the same real-world moment. For players in India, early access begins May 26 at 7:30 PM IST, while the full standard launch starts May 27 at 7:30 PM IST.

Players who pre-order the game receive the Deluxe Edition upgrade at no additional cost. The package includes 24-hour early access, four bonus outfits, the Agent’s Mark weapon skin, and cosmetic gadget items including the Gleaming Dart Gun and Gleaming Pen.
PC Requirements and Launch Features
007 First Light requires at least 80 GB of SSD storage on PC alongside Windows 10 or Windows 11. Minimum specifications include an Intel Core i5-9500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 paired with a GTX 1660 or RX 5700 graphics card.
IO Interactive has also confirmed support for uncapped framerates, DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, and DLSS Dynamic Multi Frame Generation at launch. Additional path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction upgrades are planned for a later Summer 2026 update.
