Pop singer Meghan Trainor has cancelled her upcoming āGet In Girlā tour just weeks before its scheduled June 12 launch in Michigan, citing the pressures of balancing a new album release with family life after recently welcoming her third child.
The 32-year-old artist announced the decision on April 16, saying the demands of preparing for a nationwide tour while promoting new music and caring for her newborn daughter had become āmore than I can take on right now.ā The tour had been expected to run across multiple U.S. cities through the summer.
Trainor and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, welcomed their daughter Mikey Moon Trainor via surrogate in January, expanding their family to five. The couple also share two young sons. In her statement, the singer said she needed to ābe home and presentā for her children during this period.
The cancellation comes just days before the release of her new album Toy With Me, scheduled for April 24, making the decision particularly significant for her current career cycle. Touring is typically a major driver of album promotion, and stepping away at this stage signals a deliberate shift in priorities.
Balancing fame, family and health
Trainor has been increasingly open about the challenges of managing her personal and professional life. In recent interviews, she spoke about being in therapy, taking antidepressants, and recently being diagnosed with ADHD, while actively working to maintain her overall health.
āI canāt do it all,ā she said in a recent interview, underscoring the reality behind the decision. The admission reflects a broader change among high-profile artists, who are more frequently prioritising mental health and family over relentless touring schedules.
While fans have expressed disappointment, the singer acknowledged the impact of the cancellation and apologised directly, promising she would return to the stage soon. āIām so proud of this new record, and I canāt wait for you to hear it,ā she said, reinforcing that her music plans remain on track despite the halted tour.
What it means for fans
For ticket holders, refunds are expected to be processed automatically through original payment methods within approximately 14 to 21 days, in line with standard ticketing policies outlined by Ticketmaster.
The decision highlights a growing tension in the music industry, where artists are expected to sustain visibility across multiple fronts ā recording, touring and personal branding ā often simultaneously. Trainorās move to step back, even temporarily, suggests a recalibration of those expectations.
As her new album arrives without the support of a major tour, the focus now shifts to how audiences respond to her music alone. For Trainor, the moment reflects not a retreat from her career, but a rebalancing of it ā one shaped as much by life offstage as by success on it.
