Dunkin’ is putting one of its biggest summer drink promotions back on the menu. The coffee chain’s 48-ounce Iced Beverage Buckets return on May 22 at participating U.S. restaurants, giving customers a limited-time way to order oversized iced coffee or Refreshers just as Memorial Day weekend brings heavier travel and outdoor plans.
The returning Dunkin Bucket is not a permanent menu item. It will be sold only while supplies last, which makes timing important for customers hoping to try it. The large-format drink is aimed at warm-weather moments such as beach days, road trips, backyard meetups and afternoon hangouts, where cold drinks tend to see stronger demand.
For Dunkin’, the bucket is more than a large cup. It is a highly visible seasonal product built for social sharing. Oversized drinks have become a reliable way for restaurant brands to create quick online attention, and Dunkin’s 48-ounce format gives the company a simple hook: a drink that looks different enough to be posted, discussed and searched.
The launch also arrives with a wider cold-beverage push. Customers can fill the bucket with Dunkin’s signature iced coffee or Refreshers, giving the offer appeal to both coffee drinkers and fans of fruit-forward drinks. Dunkin’ is also introducing a new Cherry Lime Rickey Refresher, made with Black Cherry and Limeade flavors.
The chain is expanding Limeade options across more drinks as well. Customers can choose Raspberry Limeade, Coconut Limeade, Matcha Limeade and Strawberry Dragonfruit Limeade Refreshers, adding more variety to the summer lineup at the same time the bucket promotion returns.
Dunkin’ Rewards members also have two separate points offers around the rollout. From May 20 through May 24, members can earn 3X points on Refreshers through Dunkin’s Drink of the Week monthly bonus feature. That window overlaps with the May 22 bucket launch, giving Refresher buyers a short opportunity to collect extra points during the early part of the promotion.
A second rewards offer begins after that. From May 25 through May 31, Dunkin’ Rewards members can use the Afternoon Streak promotion after 1 p.m. at participating U.S. stores. The offer gives 50 base points or 100 boosted points each day a member visits, but it must be activated in the Dunkin’ app and cannot be combined with another offer, coupon or promotion.
That rewards calendar shows how Dunkin’ is using the bucket return to support more than one customer behavior. The 48-ounce drink can drive immediate interest, while the app-based offers are designed to encourage repeat visits later in the day, a period many coffee chains are trying to grow beyond the morning rush.
The timing is especially useful for Dunkin’. Late May usually marks the start of summer routines across much of the U.S., with more weekend travel, outdoor gatherings and afternoon drink runs. Launching a large iced beverage during that period gives the brand a product that fits both consumer demand and seasonal marketing.

Limited-time restaurant promotions have become increasingly competitive, especially in the cold drink category. Chains are adding colorful Refreshers, flavored lemonades, iced coffees and customizable drinks to win customers who are no longer buying coffee only in the morning. Dunkin’s bucket gives the brand a more eye-catching way to compete in that space.
The promotion also creates urgency. Because the buckets are available only at participating locations and only while supplies last, customers may not have a long window to buy one. Anyone planning to pick up the viral 48-ounce drink for the weekend may want to check their nearest Dunkin’ early.
