Sony’s PlayStation State of Play for June 2026 is not being treated like a small trailer drop. The company has lined up a showcase running for more than 60 minutes, with updates, announcements and gameplay reveals for upcoming PS5 games. That longer runtime is the main reason fans are expecting a more meaningful look at PlayStation’s next release slate.
The event takes place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. It starts at 2:00 PM PT, 5:00 PM ET and 11:00 PM CEST. For viewers in Japan, the broadcast begins on June 3 at 6:00 AM JST. Sony says fans can watch the showcase live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels, according to the official PlayStation Blog.
There is also a theater element this time, which has added to the sense that Sony may have something bigger planned. Select Alamo Drafthouse locations are expected to screen the showcase in cities including Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Raleigh and the San Francisco Bay Area, though ticket availability may be limited by the time the event begins.
Wolverine leads the confirmed lineup
The biggest confirmed game is Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac Games is expected to open the show with a closer look at Logan’s brutal combat and new details from the PS5 exclusive. The game is especially important for Sony because Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man series became one of the strongest franchises of the PS5 era.
Fans will be watching for more than a flashy trailer. The real questions are about gameplay: how heavy Wolverine’s combat feels, how the game handles movement, which villains appear, and whether Insomniac can make the title feel darker and more aggressive than Spider-Man while still keeping its cinematic style. Swikblog has also covered the confirmed Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 release date for readers following the game closely.
God of War, Intergalactic and possible surprises
Beyond Wolverine, Sony has not revealed the full program. That leaves room for several major possibilities. One of the most discussed rumors is a God of War spin-off focused on Faye, Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother. A Faye-led story would allow Sony Santa Monica to explore the Norse timeline from a different angle without immediately revealing the next mainline God of War game.
Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is another title fans want to see. The studio’s new sci-fi IP has only had a brief reveal so far, and a gameplay presentation would be a major moment for PlayStation. Other possible appearances include Phantom Blade Zero, Saros, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Horizon Hunters Gathering and Fairgames. Third-party updates could also bring fresh looks at projects such as Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Control Resonant, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, John Wick or Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

Some expectations should stay grounded. GTA 6 news is unlikely, as Rockstar usually controls its own marketing beats. A Destiny 3 reveal also feels unlikely, and PlayStation 6 hardware news should not be expected from a State of Play built around games.
The June 2026 State of Play matters because PlayStation fans want clarity. Several Sony studios have been quiet for years, and the PS5 lineup needs firm dates, gameplay footage and stronger direction. If Sony delivers a major Wolverine showing alongside one or two surprises, this could become one of PlayStation’s most important showcases of the year.
