Veteran actor James Handy, best known for his appearances in Top Gun: Maverick, Logan, Jumanji, and numerous television dramas, has died after a fatal stabbing in Tarzana, California. He was 81.

The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 19200 block of Erwin Street after receiving a disturbing emergency call. According to investigators, the caller reportedly told a 911 dispatcher, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
When officers arrived, they found Handy unconscious in the front yard suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Suspect Arrested After Alleged Confession
Police identified the suspect as Michael Gledhill, 44, of Tarzana. Investigators said Gledhill lived at the residence with his mother, who was in a relationship with Handy.
According to authorities, Gledhill later flagged down responding officers and told them he was the person they were looking for. He was taken into custody at the scene without incident and transported to Van Nuys Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of murder.
Officials confirmed Gledhill’s bail was set at $2 million. Detectives currently believe the homicide was an isolated incident and have stated there appears to be no ongoing threat to the public. However, investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive and continue to examine the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing.
