Australia’s First Streamer Summit Launches in Queensland With Twitch Support

Australia’s gaming and creator industries are set to converge in Brisbane later this month with the launch of the inaugural Let’s Play Streamer Summit, a new event designed to connect streamers, content creators and game developers through networking, industry discussions and hands-on gaming experiences.

Screen Queensland announced the summit as part of the annual Queensland Games Festival, with the event being delivered in partnership with Twitch and the Brisbane International Game Developers Association (BRIGDA). Running on Friday, 26 June, the summit will extend the festival’s Framework industry day and is being positioned as Australia’s first national forum dedicated to bringing together livestream creators and game developers.

The initiative reflects the growing influence of content creators in the games industry, where Twitch streams, YouTube videos and online communities increasingly determine how new games are discovered. For independent developers in particular, creator partnerships have become a key part of reaching audiences and building awareness around upcoming releases.

Specialised program for creators and developers

According to Screen Queensland, the Let’s Play Streamer Summit is a highly specialised program with limited attendance capacity, aimed at fostering stronger connections between Queensland game studios and leading Australian streamers. Expressions of interest are now open for creators and developers wishing to attend.

The summit begins with registration at 1:30pm before a series of industry-focused sessions. At 2:00pm, the panel Become the Next Big Thing: Growing a Community on Twitch will feature discussions on audience growth, finding a unique niche, improving discoverability and building a sustainable streaming career.

At 3:00pm, attendees can join Dev? Streamer? Or Both?, a discussion exploring how the lines between game development and content creation are becoming increasingly blurred. The panel will examine how developers use streaming and social platforms to market games, test ideas and engage directly with communities, while also discussing the challenges of balancing visibility with productivity.

The afternoon concludes with Devs vs Streamers: Super Smash Bros. at 4:00pm, a friendly competition designed to bring developers and creators together in a more relaxed environment while adding a competitive element to the event.

Strengthening game discoverability in Australia

Screen Queensland Executive Director of Screen Content Julie Eckersley said the summit recognises the growing importance of discoverability for local games and helps create stronger links between developers and gaming communities.

Eckersley noted that Queensland has developed one of Australia’s most competitive digital games sectors and is well positioned to host a national event where creators and developers can collaborate, share ideas and build long-term partnerships.

Twitch APAC Content Director Lewis Mitchell welcomed the collaboration, saying the platform was excited to bring creators and industry professionals together while celebrating the continued growth of livestreaming culture across Queensland and Australia.

The program continues on Saturday, 27 June, when the Queensland Games Festival Exhibition opens to the public. Streamers will have the opportunity to play upcoming Queensland-developed games and create content using dedicated streaming and content-capture stations prepared for attendees.

The focus on creator engagement highlights how the games industry continues to evolve, with livestreaming and community-driven promotion becoming increasingly important for new releases alongside broader developments such as those explored in the gaming trends shaping 2026.

More details about attendance and event registration can be found on the official Screen Queensland website.
