AEW Star PAC Dies at 40 After Competing at All Out

PAC Dies at 40: AEW Star Benjamin Satterley Found Unresponsive in Rental Car

AEW star Benjamin Satterley, better known to wrestling fans as PAC, has died at the age of 40, less than a day after competing at All Out in the Chicago area.

LATEST UPDATE — September 29, 2026

New information has emerged about the circumstances surrounding Benjamin Satterley’s death. The AEW wrestler, known as PAC, was found unresponsive and alone inside a rental car in the 2700 block of Mannheim Road in Des Plaines, Illinois, on Sunday, September 27, according to reports citing local authorities and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A passerby spotted Satterley inside the vehicle and called 911. He was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m. Authorities said there were no indications of foul play or trauma and that the death did not appear suspicious.

An autopsy has been conducted, but the cause and manner of death remain pending additional testing. The new information comes after Satterley competed at AEW All Out near Chicago the previous night. There is currently no evidence establishing that his death was connected to the match.

All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley’s death on Sunday night, describing the Newcastle upon Tyne native as an international performer whose athleticism and innovative wrestling style made him one of the promotion’s most distinctive stars.

No cause of death has been announced. AEW has also not disclosed where Satterley died or provided further details about the circumstances. There is currently no verified evidence linking his death to his appearance at All Out.

PAC wrestled Andrade at All Out hours before the announcement

PAC competed at AEW All Out on September 26 at NOW Arena, challenging Andrade El Ídolo for the AEW National Championship.

According to AEW’s official All Out results, PAC was accompanied by Marina Shafir and delivered another physical performance featuring the aerial and submission offense that had defined his career.

The finish came after PAC trapped Andrade in the Brutalizer. Andrade countered by rolling backward, catching PAC’s shoulders on the mat and scoring the three-count to retain the championship.

AEW’s published account of the match did not report PAC suffering a serious injury.

His final AEW appearance came later that night

The championship match was not PAC’s final appearance at All Out.

He later became involved during the AEW World Championship match between Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley. PAC struck Mike Bailey with a briefcase before Andrade confronted him and delivered DĂa de Los Muertos on the floor.

That sequence became one of Satterley’s final documented appearances for AEW. Nothing in the company’s published results establishes that anything during the event caused or contributed to his death.

PAC’s cause of death has not been disclosed

The timing has understandably prompted questions because Satterley had been actively wrestling only hours before AEW announced his death.

As of September 28, no cause of death has been publicly confirmed. Claims attributing his death to a heart attack, wrestling injury, accident or another specific cause should therefore be treated as unverified unless confirmed by his family, AEW or another authoritative source.

The confirmed timeline is limited: PAC competed at All Out, appeared again later during the event, and AEW subsequently announced that Benjamin Satterley had died at 40.

PAC remained active during his final week

Satterley had not stepped away from wrestling and remained involved in prominent AEW storylines immediately before his death.

On September 19, he defeated Adam Priest with the Brutalizer before confronting National Champion Andrade. On September 23, PAC defeated Ace Austin after connecting with the Black Arrow as his championship rivalry continued toward All Out.

The schedule underscores the suddenness of the announcement: PAC had been an active competitor and championship challenger during the final days of his life.

From Newcastle to WWE and AEW

Satterley began wrestling professionally in 2004 and built his reputation through Britain’s independent wrestling scene before competing internationally, including an important period with Japan’s Dragon Gate.

He signed with WWE in 2012 and became known as Adrian Neville and later Neville. His accomplishments included the NXT Championship, NXT Tag Team Championship and WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

After leaving WWE in 2018, Satterley returned to the PAC name and became part of AEW in 2019 during the promotion’s formative period.

His career crossed several major eras of modern combat sports. Swikblog is also following other athlete-related developments, including the recent Raoni Barcelos hospital update following UFC Vegas 121.

PAC became one of AEW’s defining early performers

PAC became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion, the championship later renamed the AEW International Championship. He also captured the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Penta and Rey FĂŠnix as Death Triangle.

His matches with opponents including Kenny Omega and Orange Cassidy demonstrated his versatility. PAC could move between technical wrestling, hard-hitting offense and spectacular aerial sequences while maintaining the aggressive character that became central to his AEW presentation.

His Black Arrow — a twisting aerial attack delivered from the top rope — became his signature move and one of the most recognizable parts of his wrestling style.

Satterley’s death also comes during an emotional period for AEW following the recent reported death of Andy “The Butcher” Williams.

The wider sports world has also recently faced concern over competitors suffering frightening incidents during events, including Dante Moore’s injury scare and the reaction that followed.

Wrestling world remembers Benjamin Satterley

Tributes from wrestlers and fans began appearing after AEW announced Satterley’s death, reflecting a career that stretched across Britain, Japan and the United States over more than two decades.

For longtime wrestling viewers, Satterley connected several significant periods of the sport: Britain’s independent scene, Dragon Gate, the rise of WWE’s NXT brand and the formative years of AEW.

The key question surrounding his death nevertheless remains unanswered. Until Satterley’s family, AEW or another authoritative source releases additional information, there is no factual basis for attributing his death to his final match or any particular medical cause.
