Birmingham Pride 2026: Full Parade Route, Road Closures, Tram Disruption and Bus Diversions in Birmingham

Birmingham Pride 2026 is drawing large crowds into the heart of the city this weekend, with the annual LGBTQ+ celebration bringing a colourful parade, ticketed music festival, cabaret shows, dance arenas and community events across Birmingham. The event is being held on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026, with major travel changes in place for anyone heading into the city centre.

The weekend programme includes a free Pride parade through Birmingham city centre and a paid-entry festival around the Smithfield site and the Gay Village area near Hurst Street. Visitors are being urged to plan ahead as road closures, tram disruption and bus diversions are affecting several key routes.

Birmingham Pride 2026 date, time and parade route

The main parade takes place on Saturday, May 23. Groups taking part in the parade will gather at Victoria Square from 11:00 AM, before the procession begins at 12:00 PM. The parade is free to watch and is expected to attract thousands of spectators along the route.

The route covers around 1.5 miles and is expected to take about 45 minutes. It starts from Victoria Square and finishes near Hippodrome Square, close to Birmingham’s Gay Village.

The parade route includes Colmore Row, Victoria Square, Pinfold Street, Stephenson Street, Stephenson Place, New Street, High Street, Carrs Lane, Moor Street, Smallbrook Queensway, Hurst Street and Hippodrome Square.

Festival activity continues from 12:00 PM until 11:59 PM on Saturday. On Sunday, May 24, the street party and festival areas will again run from 12:00 PM until 11:59 PM.

Road closures, tram disruption and affected bus routes

Drivers should expect heavy delays around Birmingham city centre, particularly near the parade route, Digbeth, Holloway Circus and the roads leading toward the Gay Village. Several roads are closed or affected during the event.

The main affected roads include Pinfold Street, Stephenson Street, Corporation Street to New Street, Carrs Lane, Moor Street, Moor Street Queensway, Smallbrook Queensway, St Martin’s Tunnel, Hill Street and Hurst Street.

Another important closure is on Pershore Street between Sherlock Street and Upper Dean Street, which is closed from 6:00 AM on Saturday until 6:00 AM on Monday. Visitors travelling by car are advised to avoid unnecessary journeys into the city centre and use public transport where possible.

However, public transport is also facing changes. West Midlands Metro services are disrupted during the parade, with trams running only between Wolverhampton and Millennium Point. There is no service between Corporation Street and Edgbaston Village while the parade moves through the city centre. The disruption is expected to last until around 3:00 PM on Saturday.

National Express West Midlands has also confirmed bus diversions on multiple routes. The affected services include 2, 3, 4, 4A, 5, 6, 16, 17, 17A, 23, 24, 35, 45, 47, 50, 60, 61, 63, 80, 82, 87, 97, 97A, X1, X2, X20, X21 and X22.

Rail passengers should also check before travelling, as reduced services are expected on West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway because of industrial action. Birmingham New Street remains the closest major railway station for visitors heading to the festival.

Tickets, performers and festival details

The Birmingham Pride parade is free for the public to watch, but visitors need a ticket or wristband to enter the main festival site. Standard tickets start from under ÂŁ20 for selected day-entry options, while VIP packages are priced at around ÂŁ97 including fees.

VIP access includes front-of-stage inner circle viewing, priority bar service, access to a separate VIP lounge, a glass of fizz and buffet food. A low-income ticket scheme is also available, offering a 50% discount for eligible Birmingham and West Midlands residents.

Children aged 11 and under can attend for free, but a free child ticket must be booked in advance. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

This year’s lineup includes Katy B, Sigala, Nadine Coyle, Björn Again, Boney M ft Mazie Williams, Danny Beard, Victoria Scone, Booty Luv, Sweet Female Attitude, Jaguar, Arthi, Big Ang, Wïles, Forbid and Black Peppa. Performances are spread across the Main Stage, Dance Arena, Conrad Guest Cabaret Stage and Community Stage.

Birmingham Pride remains one of the UK’s biggest LGBTQ+ events and continues to support local community groups. Organisers say more than £500,000 has been awarded to local LGBTQ+ support groups and services since 2014.
