Celebrity Treasure Island ended with one of its most dramatic finales yet as Nix Adams turned a confusing final moment into a stunning victory over Liv Parker and Louis Davis. The TVNZ reality competition wrapped up with an emotional treasure hunt that saw alliances tested, panic set in and a last-second discovery decide the winner.

The final episode opened with hosts Bree Tomasel and Jayden Daniels recapping the season-long rivalry between Louis and the remaining wāhine alliance. Nix entered the finale as the last original member of Team Kāhu and carried emotional reminders of her former teammates into the final challenge. She gathered keepsakes left behind during the season, including Vinnie’s string vest, Harrison’s tag, Georgia’s bracelet and Simon’s long johns, while Louis joked that the only thing he carried from his allies was “in here”, pointing to his chest.

Liv Parker also arrived with a personal connection to the game. She brought the shorts worn by her brother Chris Parker when he won the show in 2021, creating a callback to one of the series’ memorable finales.

Advantage card changes the game early

The final treasure hunt began with all three contestants talking confidently about their chances. Liv gained an early edge after playing an advantage card that allowed her to skip much of the opening challenge, pushing her well ahead of the others.

That lead quickly disappeared during the next stage, which required contestants to throw balls accurately and with force. Liv struggled badly at the task, something the show had hinted at in earlier episodes, allowing Nix to catch up and move ahead before Louis finally completed the challenge himself.

By the time Liv and Louis reached the last stage, Nix already had a significant lead. The final challenge forced contestants to decode symbols to determine the treasure’s location before digging it out. Nix initially believed she had solved the clue, then doubted herself, before deciding she was right after all.

Louis eventually realised Nix was digging in the correct area and walked over saying, “Shall we have a dig fest over here?” The pressure instantly shifted as all three finalists began digging in the same spot.

False alarm turns into winning moment

Nix suddenly hit something underground and screamed in excitement, believing she had found the treasure. Moments later she thought she was wrong after pulling out what looked like a bottle. But the confusion lasted only seconds before she realised the object actually contained the winning treasure.

The emotional moment sealed the victory for the wāhine alliance that had spent much of the season trying to eliminate Louis from the competition.

Liv became emotional after the result and said she was happy to see a woman win the competition. Louis also reflected positively on the experience despite being heavily targeted throughout the final days of the game, saying the island gave him “a stillness” and “peace”.

Nix later described the victory as life-changing and said the experience taught her to feel proud of herself every day and trust her own abilities.
