Coles has launched a major Flybuys Christmas offer that could let participating shoppers redeem up to $400 worth of points in a single transaction during the festive season.
The 2026 Collect for Christmas campaign starts on September 14, but Flybuys members need to act early. The opt-in deadline is Sunday, September 27, with saved points available to redeem from December 11 to December 24.
The offer is aimed at shoppers who want to build a larger rewards balance before Christmas, but the $400 figure is a maximum redemption limit — not a guaranteed payment or bonus from Coles.
Flybuys members can redeem up to $400 at Christmas
The biggest change is the amount participating members can use in one transaction.
Under normal Flybuys redemption at Coles, shoppers can convert points into money off their grocery bill, with 2,000 points equal to $10. The usual maximum instant redemption is $100 in a single transaction.
Collect for Christmas lifts that ceiling to $400 during the December 11–24 redemption period. At the standard conversion rate, a member would need 80,000 eligible Flybuys points to use the full $400 amount.
Flybuys members generally collect one point for every $1 spent at Coles when they scan their membership, with bonus offers sometimes increasing earnings. Current earning information is available through the official Flybuys help centre.
September 27 is the deadline shoppers cannot miss
Members are not automatically enrolled in the Christmas program.
To take part, they must opt in by September 27. Once enrolled, members can continue building their balance ahead of the festive shopping period.
They will also be able to track how much they have saved and can opt out through Flybuys if they decide they would rather use their rewards earlier.
That choice could matter for households managing tight weekly budgets, as banking points for Christmas means delaying access to rewards that could otherwise reduce grocery costs sooner.
10x points offer could boost Christmas balances
Coles is also giving participating members an early chance to build points faster.
The first offer gives members 10x Flybuys points on their next eligible shop at Coles and Liquorland.
Customers should still check the terms attached to any bonus offer, including qualifying spend requirements, activation conditions and exclusions, before changing their usual shopping habits.
Liquorland added for the first time
Another major change for 2026 is the addition of Liquorland.
For the first time, members taking part in Collect for Christmas will be able to redeem their saved Christmas points at Liquorland as well as Coles, subject to the relevant redemption conditions.
That gives members more flexibility over how they use their accumulated balance during the holiday period.

Last year’s members accumulated an average $140
The $400 maximum is likely to attract attention, but Coles’ previous campaign figures give shoppers a more realistic benchmark.
Coles says participating members accumulated an average of about $140 leading into Christmas last year.
In 2025, around 825,100 Flybuys members opted into Collect for Christmas, up 13.5 per cent year on year. More than $20 million worth of Flybuys points was redeemed over the Christmas period.
Coles Chief Customer Experience Officer Michael Courtney said the program was designed to help customers put rewards aside for a time of year when household spending often rises.
Coles and Woolworths are competing for Christmas loyalty
The move also strengthens competition between Australia’s major supermarket rewards programs.
Woolworths already offers a similar Bank for Christmas option through Everyday Rewards, allowing members to hold rewards for use during the holiday period instead of using them immediately.
For Coles, the higher redemption limit and Liquorland expansion give Flybuys members another reason to keep accumulating rewards within the group ahead of Christmas.
The offer arrives as households continue watching everyday costs closely. Another change affecting shoppers is the Australian card surcharge change taking effect from October 1.
Consumers are also facing broader household budget pressures, with payment and spending changes across Australia adding to the focus on how families manage routine expenses.
The $400 headline comes with an important catch
Shoppers should understand that Coles is not giving every Flybuys member $400.
The offer simply allows participating members to save their eligible points and redeem as much as $400 worth in one transaction during the Christmas window.
For members who already collect heavily and use bonus offers, that could produce a meaningful festive discount. For others, last year’s average balance of about $140 may be a more useful guide to what they could realistically accumulate.
