Barrie residents will soon have a new dessert destination as popular American cookie franchise Crumbl prepares to open its first location in the city this summer.
The news was confirmed through a social media announcement from Crumbl Barrie North, an Instagram account linked to the upcoming store. While the company has not officially revealed an exact grand opening date, the post confirmed the bakery is expected to launch sometime during summer 2026.
âWhether youâre grabbing a late-night treat, bringing a pink box to friends, or trying every flavour of the week… this is about to be your new favourite stop in the city,â the Instagram post said.
The expansion will make Barrie one of more than 29 Crumbl locations currently operating across Canada as the fast-growing dessert chain continues pushing deeper into the Canadian market.
Crumbl grew from one Utah bakery into a global brand
Crumbl was founded in 2017 in Logan, Utah, by cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley. According to the companyâs official website, the pair originally started with a simple goal â creating the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
What began as a single neighbourhood bakery quickly turned into one of the worldâs fastest-growing dessert franchises. Today, Crumbl operates more than 1,000 stores worldwide and has built a strong online following through TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
The chain is especially known for its rotating weekly cookie menu, where flavours change every week instead of staying fixed year-round. Customers also recognize the company for its signature pink boxes, which have become a major part of Crumblâs branding and social media popularity.
The Barrie opening reflects the increasing demand for American dessert chains across Canada, especially brands with strong online visibility and younger audiences.

Why the Barrie opening could attract strong demand
For many local residents, Crumbl is already a familiar name because of viral food videos and reviews shared online. The companyâs limited-time flavours and weekly menu announcements often generate major social media engagement, with customers regularly lining up at locations across North America during launch weeks.
The Barrie store is also expected to benefit from growing interest in specialty dessert spots and late-night food options in the city. While an official store address has not yet been publicly announced, excitement around the opening is already building online.
The Canadian expansion trend is not limited to Crumbl alone. Swikblog recently covered how Dunkinâ Donuts is planning a large-scale return to Canada, highlighting renewed interest from major U.S. food chains looking to grow north of the border.
More details about Crumbl Barrie North, including hiring updates, store location information and the official opening date, are expected closer to launch later this summer.
