Gaston County Shooting: Four Found Shot Inside Home

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Four people were found suffering from gunshot wounds inside a Gaston County home Thursday morning, prompting an emergency response and a large police investigation along Forbes Road.

The Gaston County Police Department received the call at approximately 8:43 a.m. on September 10. Responding officers entered a home in the 2600 block of Forbes Road, near U.S. Highway 321, and discovered four wounded people inside.

Officers immediately began providing lifesaving assistance until emergency medical personnel arrived, according to initial information released by authorities.

Police have not identified the four victims or disclosed the severity of their injuries. Officials also have not said whether any of the victims died after being transported for medical treatment.

Witnesses report hearing several gunshots

A construction crew working near the property told WSOC-TV that workers heard approximately five or six gunshots before police converged on the area.

Multiple Gaston County police vehicles were positioned around the home as detectives processed the scene. Crime-scene tape restricted access to the property, while authorities asked residents and drivers to avoid Forbes Road during the investigation.

Gaston County District Attorney Travis Page was also seen at the scene, although officials have not said what evidence investigators recovered or whether prosecutors had been briefed about a possible suspect.

A friend of the woman who reportedly lives at the home arrived late Thursday morning before leaving for a hospital. She told the television station that her friend had not arrived at work, which immediately caused concern because the absence was considered unusual.

The property is in a largely rural area near the North Carolina-South Carolina state line, about five miles south of central Gastonia. Forbes Road connects with Highway 321, a major route running through Gaston County toward the state border.

What police have not yet disclosed

Investigators have not publicly established what led to the shooting or whether the four victims knew one another. Police have also not disclosed whether a firearm was recovered, whether someone fled the house or whether any person has been detained.

Authorities have not characterized the shooting as a domestic incident, murder-suicide or attack involving an outside suspect. There was also no verified announcement about whether police believed an ongoing danger existed beyond the property.

Those unanswered questions remain significant. In previous investigations, including the Austin mass shooting in which police later identified the victims and suspected gunman, important details emerged only after interviews, forensic examinations and notifications to relatives were completed.

The Gaston County Police Department said detectives were actively investigating and processing the Forbes Road scene.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to contact Gaston County Police or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.

This is a developing story. Victim conditions, identities and information about a possible suspect will be added when released by authorities.
