Hoover Mall Shooting: Fight Near Champs Sports

According to 1819 News, the shooting occurred near a jewelry kiosk in front of Champs Sports, close to the mall’s food court.

Video circulating online reportedly shows several people fighting before an individual picks up what appears to be a firearm from the floor and fires. The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital.

Hoover Police Chief Clay Morris said the victim and suspect knew each other, indicating the shooting followed a confrontation rather than a random attack.

Police were pursuing leads to identify and apprehend those responsible. No suspect had been publicly identified or arrest confirmed in the reports reviewed.

Shoppers Sheltered as Police Locked Down Mall

The shooting triggered a lockdown as officers searched Riverchase Galleria. A store manager near the food court told WBRC that police were moving through different sections of the shopping centre.

WVTM 13 interviewed shopper Martha Williams, who said she hid inside a Macy’s dressing room for approximately 10 to 15 minutes after employees warned about a possible active shooter.

Separate footage obtained by WVTM showed blood on the floor and a significant police presence.

Police confirmed there was no active threat. According to WBRC’s updated reporting, Riverchase Galleria subsequently reopened following the emergency response.
