Jenny Slatten, known to millions of TLC viewers through 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurological disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The 68-year-old reality TV personality shared the heartbreaking news alongside her husband Sumit Singh in an emotional interview that quickly sparked concern and support from fans across social media.
According to an exclusive interview published by People, Jenny and Sumit learned about the diagnosis in December 2025 after more than a year of unexplained symptoms and medical uncertainty.
How Jenny Slatten’s ALS symptoms first started
Sumit Singh revealed that the first warning sign appeared in December 2024 when Jenny suddenly choked badly while drinking water. Soon afterward, she began suffering from migraines and difficulty swallowing pills. At first, the couple believed the issue could be related to an infection, especially after medication temporarily improved some symptoms.
But things became more worrying when Jenny’s speech started slowing down. She reportedly began avoiding conversations and sometimes refused to speak altogether because talking became difficult.
The concern grew during a 90 Day Fiancé holiday event in New York City in late 2025, where fans noticed visible changes in her speech during interviews and online videos. According to Sumit, one viewer even suggested that Jenny might have ALS after watching the footage. That comment led him to research the disease more deeply.
What made the situation even more emotional was the family connection. Jenny’s father reportedly died from ALS more than a decade ago, something the couple remembered while searching for answers.
After returning to India, where they currently live together, Jenny visited several neurologists. Initially, doctors suspected she might have a small blood clot in the brain. However, a second medical opinion eventually confirmed ALS.

Jenny and Sumit are focusing on treatment and support
Jenny admitted that she and Sumit “cried and held each other” after hearing the diagnosis. While ALS currently has no cure, doctors reportedly told the couple that her disease progression appears slow at this stage.
The couple is now researching treatments, exploring genetic testing and joining online ALS communities to better understand possible medical options. Jenny also said she hopes sharing her story publicly may help connect her with people who understand the disease or know about emerging treatments.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Jenny said she does not want people to treat her differently and wants to continue enjoying life with Sumit while she can.
Their relationship has remained one of the most recognizable stories in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, especially because of their 30-year age gap and years of family struggles before marriage. Fans have continued following their journey closely since their first appearance in 2019.
Swikblog recently also covered another TLC-related reality TV update involving Varya Malina’s life after Geoffrey Paschel’s prison sentence, reflecting continued audience interest in former franchise stars.
For now, Jenny and Sumit say they are trying to stay positive, support each other emotionally and continue living life together in India despite the uncertainty ahead.
