Major Recall Alert: Kmart, Target, Officeworks and Rebel Sport Products Recalled Over Safety Risks

Australian shoppers are being urged to check products purchased from some of the country’s biggest retailers after a series of safety recalls affected items sold through Kmart, Target, Officeworks and Rebel Sport.

The latest recalls cover children’s products, sporting goods and electric bicycles, with regulators and suppliers warning of risks ranging from choking hazards and button battery dangers to potential cycling accidents. Consumers who own the affected products are being advised to stop using them immediately and follow the instructions provided by retailers and manufacturers.

Among the most significant recalls is the ANKO Chick Silicone Teether sold nationwide through Kmart and Target between July 11, 2025 and May 21, 2026. The product was recalled after concerns it may not comply with mandatory safety standards.

According to the recall notice, small parts may separate from the teether, creating a choking hazard for infants and young children. Authorities warn that swallowing detached parts could result in serious injury or even death.

Consumers can identify affected products by checking the SKU number on the product packaging, tag or barcode sticker. The impacted Kmart SKU is 43549351, while the Target SKU is 70985030. Customers can return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The recall highlights growing attention on product safety standards across Australia. Similar safety concerns have affected major retailers in recent months. Button Battery Risk Prompts Rebel Sport Recall

Rebel Sport has also issued a recall for its Fire v Ice Air Hockey Table after regulators found the product does not comply with mandatory standards for products containing button or coin batteries.

The electric air hockey table includes an LED puck powered by a button battery. However, the battery compartment is not secured with captive screws, raising concerns that children could gain access to the battery.

The affected product carries SKU 559505, Item Number 04031 and barcode 4011796040312.

Button batteries remain one of the most serious household safety hazards involving children. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) warns that if swallowed, button batteries can cause severe internal burns, choking, serious injury or death. In some cases, life-threatening injuries can occur within just two hours.

Consumers can review official recall notices through the ACCC’s product safety database: ACCC Product Safety Recalls.

Officeworks K-Pop Bottle and Cube E-Bike Recall Also Issued

Another recall affects the Kpop Demon Hunters 500mL Double Wall Stainless Steel Drink Bottle sold through Officeworks and supplied by Zak Australia.

The recall applies to both the Huntrix and Saja Boys versions of the bottle. The affected SKU numbers are KPDASH-21522 and KPDASH-21523.

According to the supplier, the bottle’s spout may separate during use, creating a choking hazard and increasing the risk of serious injury. Customers are advised to stop using the bottle immediately, keep it away from children and either request a replacement lid from Zak Australia or return the product to Officeworks for a full refund.

The latest recall roundup also includes several Cube e-bike models supplied by Pedal Group. The issue relates to carbon crank arms where aluminium inserts may unexpectedly detach, potentially causing riders to lose control and crash.

The affected crank arms include model numbers #30884 (left) and #30885 (right) in 160mm, 165mm, 170mm and 175mm lengths.

Impacted e-bike models include:

  • Cube AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:62 Pro 400X blackline
  • Cube AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:68X TM 400X reedgreennmatrix
  • Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC AT actionteam
  • Cube AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:68X SLX 400X nebulanblack
  • Cube AMS Hybrid ONE77 C:62 TM reedgreennmatrix
  • Cube Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC TM 800 reedgreennmatrix

Owners are being instructed to stop riding affected e-bikes immediately and return them to an authorised Cube Bicycle distributor. Customers can choose between temporary aluminium crank replacements that will later be upgraded to carbon versions, or permanent aluminium cranks along with a complimentary e-bike light.

With multiple recalls announced within days, consumer safety experts recommend checking product labels, model numbers and recall notices carefully. Prompt action can help prevent injuries and ensure affected products are repaired, replaced or refunded as quickly as possible.
