SOUTHLAKE, Texas, November 2, 2026 — Melissa Rycroft Strickland, the 43-year-old former Bachelor contestant and Dancing with the Stars champion, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Texas, according to Tarrant County jail records cited by multiple news outlets.
The November 1 arrest comes less than three months after Rycroft pleaded guilty in a separate DWI case and received 20 months of probation. She now faces three new charges, with a combined bond of $9,000.
Melissa Rycroft Faces Three Charges After Texas Arrest
Southlake police arrested Rycroft on November 1, marking her second reported DWI arrest in approximately 13 months.
According to PEOPLE’s report citing Tarrant County jail records, she faces the following charges:
- Driving while intoxicated: Allegedly operating a vehicle while impaired.
- Driving with an invalid license: Involving a prior conviction or suspension and financial-responsibility requirements.
- Vehicle collision: An allegation involving property damage to another vehicle.
PEOPLE reported that the vehicle-damage allegation involved less than $200, although another published account described a different damage threshold.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Rycroft remained at the Tarrant County Corrections Center in Fort Worth when it checked jail records. Her subsequent release status has not been confirmed.
September 2025 Cadillac Crash Led to Earlier DWI Case
Rycroft’s previous arrest occurred September 23, 2025, after Southlake police responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 12:05 p.m.
Officers found a black Cadillac Escalade that had struck a tree. Witnesses reportedly observed the SUV being driven erratically before the collision.
Police identified Rycroft as the driver and conducted a standardized field sobriety test before transporting her to Keller Jail.
No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved.
August 2026 Guilty Plea and Probation Conditions
Rycroft pleaded guilty to the earlier DWI charge in August 2026. Court documents reported by Us Weekly showed that she received 20 months of probation instead of serving a 280-day jail sentence.
Her financial penalties totaled approximately $2,087, including a $2,000 fine and additional court fees.
The probation agreement included:
- 36 hours of community service.
- Completion of a DWI education course.
- A substance-abuse evaluation.
- No alcohol consumption or illegal drug use.
- A camera-equipped ignition interlock device.
- Drug and alcohol testing and monthly supervision check-ins.
The earlier case also involved a reported blood alcohol concentration of 0.26%, more than three times Texas’ 0.08% legal driving limit.
New DWI Arrest Raises Probation Questions
The latest arrest is significant because Rycroft was serving probation when the new allegations emerged.
A new criminal case may lead authorities to review whether probation conditions were breached. However, an arrest does not automatically revoke probation or establish guilt.
No confirmed probation-revocation order or new conviction has been reported.

Attorney Response and Rycroft’s Previous Statement
Rycroft’s attorney, Bret Martin, declined to comment on the latest arrest when contacted by Entertainment Weekly.
Following the September 2025 incident, Martin emphasized the presumption of innocence. Rycroft later acknowledged personal difficulties in a social media response, saying she was struggling but attempting to move forward.
Authorities have not released a detailed public account of the November collision, including whether anyone was injured or the results of any sobriety testing.
Melissa Rycroft’s Bachelor and DWTS Career
Rycroft gained national attention during Jason Mesnick’s 2009 season of The Bachelor. Mesnick proposed to her before ending their engagement during the televised aftermath.
A former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, she competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and won the 2012 all-star season with Tony Dovolani.
The competition continues with new celebrity contestants, including those featured in the October 2026 DWTS voting results.
The latest season also featured Shirley Ballas as a guest judge alongside her son Mark, a storyline explored during Dancing with the Stars Horror Movie Night.
Rycroft married Tye Strickland in 2009. They have three children and previously appeared together on the reality series Melissa & Tye.
The next developments in her case will depend on formal court proceedings, updated custody records and any judicial review of her existing probation conditions.
