Powerball players across the United States had an unusually dramatic night after the Wednesday, April 29 drawing produced 91 tickets worth at least $1 million, including two jackpot winners who will share an estimated $143.4 million prize.
The winning numbers were 3, 19, 35, 51, 67 and the Powerball was 15. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. The jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Indiana and Kansas, giving both states a major lottery moment in a drawing that quickly became a talking point because of its rare outcome.
What made the result stand out was not only the jackpot split, but the huge number of tickets that matched the five white balls. In Powerball, matching the five white balls without the Powerball is already a major achievement, with odds of about 1 in 11,688,053.52. Seeing dozens of such winners in one drawing made the April 29 result especially unusual.
The jackpot was advertised at $143.4 million, with a cash option of around $65.2 million before taxes. Jackpot winners can choose between taking the money as an annuity paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years or accepting the lump-sum cash prize. Both options are subject to federal taxes and any applicable state or local taxes.
Why the April 29 Powerball Drawing Got So Much Attention
The drawing caught attention because the five white ball numbers followed a simple pattern when placed in order. They were 3, 19, 35, 51 and 67, meaning each number increased by 16. That type of sequence can look surprising after a draw, especially when it appears alongside so many high-value prizes.
Still, lottery drawings are random, and a visible pattern does not mean the result was predictable. Every valid Powerball combination has the same chance before the drawing takes place. Patterns are often noticed only after the numbers are announced, but they can make a result feel more memorable to players checking their tickets.
According to the official Powerball website, 27 tickets matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option, which doubled the prize to $2 million each. Those $2 million-winning tickets were sold in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
Indiana and Louisiana had five $2 million winners each, while New Jersey had four. Oregon recorded three $2 million winners, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin had two each, and Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Rhode Island and South Carolina each had one.
Another 62 tickets matched the five white balls without Power Play, winning $1 million each. Those tickets were sold in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Indiana and New Jersey were the biggest hotspots for $1 million prizes, with 14 winning tickets each. Louisiana followed with six, while Kansas and Pennsylvania had five each. Wisconsin had four, Illinois had three, Nebraska had two, and the remaining states recorded one $1 million winner each.
Indiana, Kansas and New Jersey Among the Biggest Winners
Indiana had one of the strongest showings in the drawing. In addition to one of the two jackpot-winning tickets being sold there, the state also had five $2 million winners and 14 $1 million winners. Kansas also had a jackpot-winning ticket, one $2 million ticket and five $1 million tickets.
New Jersey did not have a jackpot winner, but it still recorded one of the highest totals of major prizes. The state had four $2 million winners and 14 $1 million winners, putting it among the biggest winners from the night.
Michigan also had one $1 million-winning ticket. That prize was linked to an online ticket purchased by a player registered in Ortonville, according to state lottery information.
Powerball prizes usually must be claimed within one year of the drawing date, though players should always check the rules in the state where the ticket was purchased. Winners are generally advised to sign the back of a physical ticket, store it safely and contact their state lottery before making major financial decisions.
The April 29 drawing also drew comparisons with another high-prize Powerball night from September 2025, when two tickets won the jackpot, two won $2 million and 18 won $1 million. The April 29 result was far larger in terms of million-dollar winners, which is why many players are calling it one of the wildest Powerball drawings in recent memory.
For players, the biggest lesson is simple: check every ticket carefully, especially when a drawing produces an unusual number of major winners. Even tickets that miss the Powerball can still be worth $1 million or $2 million if the five white balls match.
