Samsung is launching its first US credit card, offering Galaxy customers 5% cash rewards on eligible Samsung purchases and a $200 introductory bonus. General applications for the Samsung Galaxy Card open on July 22, 2026, alongside the company’s latest Galaxy device launch.
The card is issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank and operates on Visa’s network. It combines a virtual card inside Samsung Wallet with a premium black metal physical card, giving Samsung a deeper role in how customers shop, pay and manage rewards.
Samsung Galaxy Card launch details
- Public application date: July 22, 2026
- Issuer: Barclays US Consumer Bank
- Network: Visa
- Availability: United States
- Welcome bonus: $200 after spending $2,000 within 90 days
- Card options: Virtual card and black metal physical card
Selected early-access customers can apply before the public launch. From July 22, applications can be submitted online, including while shopping at a Samsung Experience Store in the US.
Barclays will make the final lending decision following its credit and identity checks. Samsung has not disclosed a recommended credit score, and owning a Galaxy device does not guarantee approval.
How the cash rewards work
Cardholders will earn:
- 5% cash rewards on eligible purchases made directly from Samsung
- 3% cash rewards on qualifying purchases through Samsung Wallet
- 2% cash rewards on eligible streaming services, including examples such as Netflix, Disney+ and Spotify
- 1% cash rewards on other eligible purchases
The 5% category covers eligible purchases from Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, the Shop Samsung app, Galaxy Store, Samsung Care+, Samsung Secure Wi-Fi, Samsung Smart TV Store and SmartThings Videos.
A qualifying $1,000 Samsung purchase would generate $50 in cash rewards. A Samsung device purchased through a carrier, marketplace or outside retailer may not qualify for the 5% rate.
Samsung has not yet explained whether rewards are capped, when they become available, whether they expire or if a minimum amount is required for redemption.
Does a Galaxy preorder qualify for 5%?
Customers using the card to preorder the next eligible Galaxy device directly from Samsung can earn 5% cash rewards. This is the normal Samsung purchase rate, not an extra 5% added on top.
Customers who reserved the upcoming device may separately receive a $30 Samsung credit after completing an eligible preorder. That credit cannot be used toward the preordered phone itself and must be applied during checkout to qualifying products such as selected accessories, watches, Buds, tablets, Galaxy Ring products or Samsung Care+.
Samsung is advertising potential preorder savings of up to $1,230, but reaching that amount depends largely on the qualifying trade-in device and promotional conditions. Trade-ins generally must be sent within 15 days of receiving the new device and must satisfy Samsung’s inspection requirements.
How to receive the $200 bonus
New cardholders must spend $2,000 during the first 90 days after opening the account to earn the $200 bonus. That represents average monthly spending of about $667.
Samsung has not stated when the bonus will be credited or published all excluded transactions. Returned purchases, cash advances, fees and balance transfers commonly do not count toward card bonuses, but applicants should check the final Galaxy Card terms.
Samsung Wallet and VIP benefits
Customers will be able to access the virtual card, monitor spending, manage their account and redeem rewards through Samsung Wallet. The app requires a compatible smartphone running Android 9.0 or later and a Samsung account.
Samsung says Wallet information is protected by its Knox on-device security platform. The physical and virtual cards can be used at merchants accepting Visa, not only at Samsung stores.
Cardholders also receive 20% off a Samsung VIP Advantage membership and earn 5% cash rewards when purchasing or renewing it. The membership is not free, and the 20% reduction applies to its price rather than every Samsung product.
Annual fee, APR and other missing terms
Samsung’s announcement does not disclose the annual fee, purchase APR, foreign-transaction fee, late-payment charge or balance-transfer terms. It also does not confirm whether the metal card carries an issuance or replacement fee.
Those details are important because interest on an unpaid balance could outweigh rewards. Customers should review Barclays’ pricing disclosure before accepting an account.
The Galaxy Card is also separate from Samsung Financing. Samsung has not confirmed that existing promotional instalment or 0% financing offers will apply to purchases made with the new Barclays card.

Why Samsung is entering financial services
Samsung says its devices are present in 70% of US households, while nearly 30% own at least three Samsung products. Connecting a card to that customer base could increase direct device sales and encourage wider use of Samsung Wallet.
The move follows a broader technology-sector push toward tightly connected products and services. Partnerships such as the AMD Helios AI system and Microsoft Azure deal similarly show how large technology companies are building longer-term ecosystems around their customers.
It also arrives while major technology businesses are reshaping costs and investment priorities, illustrated by Microsoft’s latest layoffs and Xbox job cuts.
Samsung and Barclays have described their relationship as strategic and long-term, signalling that they may explore additional financial products. Neither company has confirmed what those future services could include.
Applicants can check the official Samsung Galaxy Card announcement for confirmed launch information and should review the final Barclays agreement for fees, reward limits and exclusions before applying.
