Millions of Social Security beneficiaries are due for another round of August payments this week, with Wednesday, August 19, 2026 marking the next major date on the Social Security Administration’s schedule.
The August 19 payment generally applies to people whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of any month and who receive benefits under the standard birth-date schedule. It is the second of three Wednesday payment rounds in August, following the August 12 payment and ahead of the final regular round on August 26.
Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, follows a separate timetable. Because August 1 fell on a Saturday in 2026, the August SSI payment was issued early on Friday, July 31. That deposit was the regular August benefit, not an extra payment.
Who gets Social Security on August 19?
For most retirement, survivor and disability beneficiaries covered by the regular schedule, payment dates depend on the day of the month they were born.

The birth month does not determine the payment group. Someone born on February 15 and another beneficiary born on November 15 generally fall into the same August 19 group if the standard Wednesday schedule applies to both.

Why the 2026 schedule matters beyond one payment
For households relying on a fixed monthly income, the difference between an August 12, August 19 or August 26 deposit can affect when rent, utilities, prescriptions and other bills are paid. Checking the correct payment category is more useful than assuming every Social Security recipient is paid on the same day.
There is also a separate long-term funding issue. The 2026 Social Security Trustees Report projects that the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund can pay full scheduled benefits until the fourth quarter of 2032. If lawmakers make no changes, continuing income would cover about 78% of scheduled OASI benefits at that point. That projection does not change the August 2026 payment schedule.
What to check if your payment does not arrive
Anyone expecting an August 19 payment should first confirm that the standard birth-date schedule applies to them. Beneficiaries who started receiving Social Security before May 1997 or who receive both Social Security and SSI may be on a different timetable.
The SSA advises allowing three additional mailing days before contacting the agency about a missing payment. People using direct deposit should also check their bank or card account and confirm that their payment information is current before assuming a benefit is late.
For August, the key dates are straightforward: August 12 for birthdays from the 1st through 10th, August 19 for birthdays from the 11th through 20th, and August 26 for birthdays from the 21st through 31st.
