Spilt Milk will move its Victorian festival from Ballarat to Geelong in 2026, ending a four-edition run at Victoria Park and beginning a five-year agreement at Kardinia Park Stadium & Precinct.
The first Geelong event is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2026. Supported by Visit Victoria, Geelong Major Events and the City of Greater Geelong, the agreement will keep the festival in Geelong/Djilang through 2030.

Spilt Milk is also expected to visit Canberra, Perth and the Gold Coast as part of its 2026 national tour.
Why is Spilt Milk leaving Ballarat?
Organisers have not identified one specific reason for relocating. There is no indication the move resulted from weak attendance: the final Ballarat festival recorded the event’s largest crowd in the city.
Geelong offers a redeveloped major-events precinct, direct rail access from Melbourne, a larger accommodation market and room for a potential audience of 55,000.
Kicks Entertainment co-founder Ryan Sabet said Geelong was the right stage for the festival’s next five years and would help demonstrate that major international music events can succeed outside capital cities.
The amount of government or council financial support included in the agreement has not been disclosed.
Venue, lineup and ticket information
The event will use the wider Kardinia Park precinct rather than operating only as a conventional stadium concert. Multiple stages will accommodate Australian and international performers. The venue previously hosted the Foo Fighters in 2022.
Greater Geelong council says a major lineup has been secured, but the headliners and complete program remain confidential. Geelong musician Erika Ever is the first local artist publicly connected to the event.
Spilt Milk has previously hosted Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, Post Malone, Lorde, Flume, Childish Gambino, Khalid, Dom Dolla, Latto and Steve Lacy. Those previous appearances are not confirmation of the 2026 lineup.
Fans can register for presale updates, but ticket prices, sale times, age restrictions and entry conditions have not been released. Stage locations, set times, accessibility arrangements, food vendors and official resale rules also remain unannounced.
Economic impact expected in Geelong
The City of Greater Geelong’s official announcement forecasts that the first festival will generate approximately A$15.5 million and more than 30,000 visitor nights.
Across five years, the council projects A$94.3 million in local economic activity and 187,579 visitor nights. Visitors reportedly spend an average of two to three nights in Spilt Milk host regions, benefiting hotels, restaurants, shops and transport providers.
These figures are forecasts rather than guaranteed revenue. Actual results will depend on attendance, overnight stays and visitor spending.
What Ballarat is losing
Spilt Milk made its Victorian debut in Ballarat in 2019 and returned in 2022 and 2023 after two pandemic-affected years. It took a nationwide break in 2024 before returning in 2025. Other Australian festivals have also adjusted their schedules, including Harvest Rock’s one-year break in 2026.
The final Ballarat edition, headlined by Kendrick Lamar, attracted 38,729 people, including approximately 34,100 visitors from outside the region. It generated an estimated A$17.2 million.
Across all four Victorian editions, Spilt Milk reportedly contributed more than A$46.7 million to the state economy and attracted almost 116,000 out-of-region visitors.
The 2025 lineup included 43 acts: 33 Australian, 15 Victorian and five based within 100 kilometres of the festival site.

Ballarat’s response and replacement event
Ballarat Mayor Tracey Hargreaves said the council was disappointed but proud of helping Spilt Milk grow. She acknowledged that hotels and other local businesses would be affected.
Ballarat continues to work with Kicks Entertainment. Victoria Park will host the Strummingbird 2026 festival featuring Post Malone in October.
Why younger visitors matter
More than 60% of Spilt Milk’s out-of-region attendees are aged between 18 and 24. Festival-supplied survey findings from 2025 showed 47% of visitors had a better opinion of regional Victoria after attending, 41% were more likely to recommend the location and more than 84% posted about the event online.
Among surveyed local attendees, 100% said the festival enhanced community life, while 97% considered arts and cultural events important to quality of life. These are stakeholder-supplied survey results, not independently measured views of every resident.
Transport and accommodation
South Geelong Station is approximately 450 metres from Kardinia Park. Geelong Station is about 1.8 kilometres away, while trains from Melbourne’s Southern Cross generally take around one hour.
Additional V/Line services, parking, shuttle buses and road closures have not been announced. Visitors should wait for confirmed tickets and transport information before making non-refundable travel arrangements.
