Western Australia is gearing up for one of its biggest weekends of the year as WA Day Festival 2025 returns to Burswood Park for two jam-packed days of free entertainment. Across Saturday 22 November and Sunday 23 November 2025, the park will transform into a giant open-air playground filled with live music, carnival rides, food trucks, cultural experiences and family activities.
With tens of thousands of people expected to attend, this year’s festival is designed to offer something for everyone: kids, teens, parents, food lovers, music fans and visitors discovering Perth for the first time.
Big Nights, Bigger Skies: Drone Show & Fireworks
Both nights of the festival will finish in spectacular style, with fireworks lighting up the skyline at Burswood Park. On the Saturday, there is an extra treat: a WA-themed drone show, choreographed above the river and expected to be one of the weekend’s standout attractions.
Paired with warm late-spring evenings and views across the Swan River, the festival’s night-time program is set to deliver an unforgettable experience for families and groups of friends.

Sunday 23 November – Reunion Vibes & Indie Heroes

Indie favourites Little Birdy, fronted by Perth’s own Katy Steele, have just completed a reunion tour celebrating the 21st anniversary of their debut album BigBigLove. Their WA Day Festival set is expected to be a high-energy mix of nostalgia and fresh momentum, appealing to longtime fans and first-time listeners.
Free Rides, Showbags & Non-Stop Family Fun
WA Day has built a reputation as one of Western Australia’s most family-friendly events, and 2025 is no exception. The festival will feature:
- Almost a dozen free fairground rides
- 40+ showbags, including the classic Bertie Beetle bag
- Thrill rides like the Dream Swinger and Storm
- Carnival staples such as Dodgem Drift and Cup & Saucer
- The mind-bending Aussie Maze
- The jaw-dropping Hardwired BMX stunt show
- The Whale – a hypnotic large-scale puppet show created by Fremantle’s Spare Parts Puppet Theatre
Kids who got an early preview of the rides described wanting to go on them “over and over again,” and the best part for parents is simple: the rides are free, making the festival both exciting and budget-friendly.
Immersive Noongar Storytelling & Cultural Installations
Beyond the music and rides, WA Day Festival 2025 also highlights the deep cultural roots of Western Australia. Visitors can step into Wadjuk Dreaming, a dome installation that brings four Dreamtime stories to life through immersive projections and sound.
Inside the dome, audiences are surrounded by native animals, natural soundscapes and teachings about kindness, teamwork, perspective and family. It’s a powerful, family-friendly way to learn more about Noongar culture and the significance of Country.
Spudshed Cooking Stage: Live, Local & Delicious
Food lovers will want to spend time at the Spudshed Cooking Stage, which returns in 2025 with a full weekend of live demonstrations from some of WA’s most respected chefs and familiar TV faces.
Located within the busy Hancock Iron Ore Innovation & Education Alley, the stage will be hosted by rotating Channel 7 presenters and feature dishes that can be recreated at home. One highlight sees executive chef Lucas Fernandes joining forces with Jessica Roe from Petition Kitchen to create an apple and nectarine crumble cheesecake based on Roe’s family recipe – the kind of “any occasion” dessert that can be customised with seasonal fruit or made in mini versions with the kids.
Perdaman Eat Street: 50+ Food Trucks & Sweet Treats
As always, food is a major drawcard. At Perdaman Eat Street, more than 50 food trucks and vendors will be serving an impressive range of local and international flavours.
Expect Asian fusion from Street Food Lab (including satay chicken, karaage and gyoza), crowd-pleasing loaded fries and spiral potatoes from Chips on a Stick, plus ice cream, fairy floss, donuts and snow cones from long-running family businesses that have been part of WA festivals for generations. One standout treat, the indulgent Biscoff flurry, has already earned a reputation as a must-try dessert.
Stallholders say WA Day is one of their favourite events because of the atmosphere: big crowds, warm weather and a genuine sense of community as people of all ages share the space.
