When announcing his sixth studio album, With Heaven on Top, on Instagram earlier this week, Zach Bryan added the disclaimer, “Hope you don’t hate it.” Now that the follow-up to 2024’s The Great American Bar Scene has arrived, listeners can decide for themselves.
With Heaven on Top spans 25 tracks. Bryan tends to favor expansive albums, as seen with the 19-song track list on The Great American Bar Scene and the 16-track lineup on Zach Bryan (2023), not to mention the 34-track release American Heartbreak in 2022.
After releasing three studio albums in just three years — not counting multiple EPs and live recordings — Bryan largely stepped away last year to recalibrate. During that time, he made headlines for a high-profile breakup with Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, an altercation with Gavin Adcock at the Born & Raised Festival, and the release of a song some listeners interpreted as critical of ICE.
In November, Bryan revealed he had been experiencing “earth-shattering panic attacks” amid ongoing online controversy. “Being in the military for a decade and then thrown into a spotlight that I hadn’t fully comprehended the scope of, had some subconscious effects on me as a person,” he said. “I was not content, but I also feared showing weakness because that’s not who I am or how I was raised.”
Bryan later shared that he found stability through sobriety and married his now-wife, Samantha Leonard, during a private ceremony in San Sebastian, Spain, at the end of 2025.
Entering the new year with renewed focus, Bryan is preparing to return to touring. His With Heaven On Tour kicks off on March 7 and will feature support from Kings of Leon, Alabama Shakes, Ben Howard, MJ Lenderman, Dijon, and more.
