A widely used kitchen staple has been pulled from shelves across the United States after safety concerns escalated into dozens of reported incidents. A recall affecting approximately 740,000 sauté pan sets sold through major retailers including Costco, Walmart, and Amazon is now underway, with consumers urged to stop using the product immediately.
The recall centers on Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue Stainless Steel sauté pans, a popular two-piece cookware set that has been available for several years. The issue stems from a critical component failure involving the handle assembly, raising concerns about potential injury during normal cooking use.
Safety Risk Linked to Handle Component Failure
According to the official safety notice published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the metal cap attached to the screw connecting the pan to its handle can detach unexpectedly. When exposed to heat, the component may forcefully eject, creating both impact and burn hazards for users standing nearby.
Authorities have confirmed at least 98 reported incidents involving this defect. In one case, a consumer suffered bruising along with burn injuries, highlighting the seriousness of the malfunction.
The defect is particularly concerning because it can occur during regular cooking, meaning users may not have any warning before the part dislodges.
Products Affected and Sales Timeline
The recall applies specifically to a two-piece sauté pan set that includes:
âą One 10-inch pan
âą One 11.15-inch pan
These sets were sold under UPC number 0-80313-08131-6 and were available both in physical stores and online platforms. Retail availability spanned from August 2021 through March 2026, with an average retail price of around $40.
Notably, the product remained on sale as recently as late March 2026, meaning many households may still be actively using the cookware.
Immediate Action for Consumers
Consumers who own these pans are being advised to stop using them immediately. Continued use could expose individuals to sudden component failure and injury risk, particularly when cooking at high temperatures.
The importer, E. Mishan & Sons Inc., has initiated a voluntary recall and is offering full refunds to affected customers. To receive compensation, consumers will be required to return the product through the official recall process.
Retailers, including Costco, have also issued direct communication to customers, emphasizing the importance of discontinuing use and returning the item as soon as possible.
For many households, this recall serves as a reminder that even everyday kitchen tools can present unexpected safety risks. With the product widely distributed across major retail channels, the scale of the recall reflects both its popularity and the urgency of addressing the defect.
