NEW YORK — Dog owners who bought supplements from Amazon, Chewy or directly from Fi are being urged to check their containers after two products were recalled over possible Salmonella contamination.
The recall covers specific lots of Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs and Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, both sold in 180-gram containers. The potential contamination matters because Salmonella can make dogs sick and can also expose people who handle the product or come into contact with waste from an infected pet.

People can potentially become infected by handling a contaminated supplement, touching surfaces exposed to it or coming into contact with animal waste after a dog has consumed the product.
Human symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
Although uncommon, more serious complications can include arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and urinary tract symptoms. Anyone experiencing concerning symptoms after exposure should contact a healthcare provider.
