Sarah Palin Pays Emotional Tribute to Ron Duguay
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who had been in a relationship with Duguay since 2022, announced his death in an emotional Instagram message.
Palin expressed heartbreak while finding comfort in her Christian faith, saying she believed Duguay was finally at peace after his prolonged illness.
On October 18, four days before his death, Palin shared a hospital photograph showing herself holding his hand and asked supporters to pray for him.
The couple maintained a relationship despite living in different states, with Duguay based in Florida and Palin in Alaska.
Ron Duguay’s Stage 4 Colon Cancer Battle and Final Months
Duguay was diagnosed with colon cancer in late 2024. His daughters, Shay Thomas and Amber Stavros, publicly revealed his illness in February 2026, explaining that the cancer had advanced and spread to his liver.
He underwent chemotherapy and surgery and received specialized treatment at City of Hope in Southern California.
His family organized a GoFundMe campaign to help cover treatment and travel expenses after his illness affected his ability to work. Newsday reported that donations had reached approximately $168,279 by October 21.
In July, Duguay collapsed at his Florida home after struggling with dehydration and difficulty eating. The fall caused facial injuries, while subsequent examinations identified internal bleeding and other gastrointestinal complications.
On October 11, his daughter requested prayers as concerns about his condition intensified. Palin’s hospital update followed a week later.
Although Duguay’s death followed his advanced cancer battle, a separate official medical determination identifying the immediate cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
