Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that a new Dragon Ball game is in development under the working title Project Age 1000. The announcement was made during the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebrations, arriving shortly after confirmation that the Dragon Ball Super anime will also return with a new story arc.
Unlike previous reveals tied closely to familiar sagas, Project Age 1000 is being positioned as something more original. While details remain limited, the early presentation suggests Bandai Namco is preparing a longer-term evolution of Dragon Ball games rather than a quick sequel built on recycled material.
What’s confirmed: Project Age 1000 is in active development, is targeting a 2027 release window, and will be shown again during Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, scheduled for April 18–19.
The brief teaser introduces a previously unseen character wearing a Capsule Corp-branded uniform. He is shown inside a simulation-style training environment, summoning and defeating multiple opponents with apparent ease. The scene emphasizes skill and control, framing this character as someone already operating at a high level.
Toward the end of the teaser, a familiar shadow appears — strongly resembling Goku. The footage does not clarify whether this figure represents the real Goku, a simulation, or something else entirely. The ambiguity appears intentional, designed to spark speculation rather than provide answers.
The teaser concludes with the new character transforming into a Super Saiyan, a moment that firmly places him within Dragon Ball’s established power hierarchy. It’s a classic visual language, but used here to introduce lineage rather than nostalgia.
Project Age 1000 carries additional significance because the game includes creative elements connected to Akira Toriyama. The project has reportedly been in development for several years and features at least one character designed by Toriyama before his passing, making it one of the last Dragon Ball projects shaped directly by his vision.
Bandai Namco has confirmed that more details will be revealed during Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, with the initial announcement shared through the official Dragon Ball Games channel.
For fans, the takeaway is simple: the franchise isn’t standing still. Between a returning anime and a new game built around original ideas, Dragon Ball’s future is being planned deliberately — and Project Age 1000 is part of that foundation.
