November 4, 2026: A Brazilian under-20 football match descended into chaos after a mass brawl led to 51 reported red cards, surpassing the previous world record mark of 36 dismissals. Players, coaches and other personnel were involved in the confrontation, which also prompted police complaints and reports of stadium damage.
The incident occurred during Uberlândia’s 3-1 defeat to MamorĂ© on November 1 at Parque do Sabiá in Minas Gerais, in the first leg of the Campeonato Mineiro U-20 Second Division semi-final.
The dismissal count has attracted international attention, although Guinness World Records has not formally certified the Brazilian match as a new record.

Mass Brawl Erupts After MamorĂ©’s Third Goal
The decisive confrontation began in the 54th minute of the second half, deep into stoppage time, after JoĂŁo Vitor, known as JV, scored MamorĂ©’s third goal.
During the celebration, MamorĂ© player Davi Fernandes Bittencourt allegedly directed provocative gestures and insults toward Uberlândia’s substitutes.
According to the referee’s account, Uberlândia goalkeeping coach Paulo SĂ©rgio Dias dos Santos entered the pitch and pushed Davi. Players and coaching staff from both teams subsequently became involved in a widespread fight.
Witness accounts described punches, kicks and objects being thrown, including chairs and stretchers. Six ball boys were also accused of participating in the violence.

The referee ended the match amid the disorder and recorded the dismissals in his official report because he could not safely show every red card on the pitch.
Three Players Were Sent Off Before the Brawl
The final confrontation accounted for 48 of the 51 reported dismissals. Three players had already been sent off for separate incidents.
- Luike Bispo dos Santos, Uberlândia: Received a second yellow card after striking an opponent with his arm.
- João Henrique, Mamoré: Dismissed after protesting a refereeing decision.
- Nelzi Neto, Uberlândia: Received a straight red card after reportedly punching the opposing goalkeeper.
An earlier confrontation involving Uberlândia officials also caused a lengthy interruption, reported to have lasted approximately 40 minutes.
Why Some Reports Count 53 Red Cards
Most Brazilian reports cite 51 dismissals, comprising 43 players and eight coaching staff members.
However, CNN Brasil reported 53 after including two additional Uberlândia officials: Willer Francisco Silva and André Luiz Nascimento.
The difference reflects which personnel were included in the final disciplinary count. The referee’s written report is particularly important because many dismissals could not be physically administered during the confrontation.
Referee Reports Threats and Stadium Damage
The referee alleged that Uberlândia officials entered the pitch and threatened the officiating team following an earlier dismissal.
Club figures including Fábio Mineiro and Willer Francisco Silva were named in reports describing the confrontation. Fernando Patrick said he filed a police complaint concerning alleged threats.
There were also reports of damage to the visiting team’s dressing room, including damaged doors and stadium equipment. The original reports cited 14 damaged doors, although that precise figure has not been independently established here.
The allegations remain subject to police and disciplinary assessment.

51 Red Cards Surpass Previous World Record Mark
The previous Guinness-listed benchmark was 36 dismissals during a February 27, 2011, match between AtlĂ©tico Claypole and Victoriano Arenas in Argentina’s fifth division.
That confrontation resulted in all 18 players from each team being dismissed.
The Brazilian match also surpassed the country’s previous reported benchmark of 23 dismissals during the 2026 Campeonato Mineiro final between Cruzeiro and AtlĂ©tico-MG.
According to Brazilian sports outlet ge.globo, official Guinness recognition remained pending on November 4.
Return Match Scheduled for November 8
Mamoré is scheduled to host Uberlândia in the second leg on Sunday, November 8, at Bernardo Rubinger de Queiroz Stadium in Patos de Minas. Kickoff is listed for 3 p.m. local time.
The reported dismissals could significantly affect squad availability, although any suspensions or additional sanctions require confirmation from football authorities.
The episode has renewed attention on discipline and safety in football. Other recent developments include the fatal collision involving Tenerife footballer JesĂşs de Miguel, a separate incident highlighting player safety concerns.
Meanwhile, the wider football calendar continues with the 2026 FIFPRO World 11 shortlist, ahead of the November 9 announcement.
For Uberlândia and Mamoré, the immediate questions concern disciplinary decisions, player eligibility and whether the return fixture will proceed as scheduled.
