Formula 1 has secured the future of the Las Vegas Grand Prix through at least 2037 after announcing a new 10-year extension with the city, cementing one of the sport’s most ambitious modern projects and strengthening its long-term presence in the United States.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2023, bringing racing back to the famous Strip for the first time in decades. While the race’s original agreement had already been extended through 2027 and Clark County officials previously outlined plans supporting the event until at least 2032, the new deal removes any uncertainty and guarantees Formula 1’s presence in Las Vegas well into the next decade.

Why Formula 1 Is Betting Big on Las Vegas
Unlike most Formula 1 races, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is directly promoted and operated by Formula 1 rather than an independent event organizer. The championship demonstrated its commitment by investing approximately $500 million in purchasing land near the Strip and constructing Grand Prix Plaza, a 39-acre facility that serves as the race’s paddock, operations hub and entertainment venue.
According to a BBC Sport report, Formula 1’s willingness to invest its own money was a major factor in convincing local authorities and businesses to support the project and allow racing on one of the world’s most recognizable streets.
The investment has delivered substantial returns. Formula 1 says the Las Vegas Grand Prix has generated approximately $3.2 billion in cumulative economic impact for Southern Nevada since its debut in 2023. All three editions of the event between 2023 and 2025 sold out, while the 2025 race alone generated $43 million in state and local tax revenue.
The event has also transformed what was traditionally one of Las Vegas’ quieter tourism weekends before Thanksgiving into one of the city’s most profitable annual periods. In addition, the Las Vegas Grand Prix Foundation has contributed more than $2 million to nonprofit organizations across the region.
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said Las Vegas has rapidly established itself as a destination for world-class racing, entertainment, global business leaders and celebrities.
