Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers plans to open 10 restaurants across nine states in August 2026, bringing the fast-casual chain to new suburban communities and two university campuses.
The openings matter to customers seeking a closer Freddy’s, students looking for new campus dining choices and local jobseekers. They are part of the company’s plan to add approximately 60 restaurants by the end of 2026.

When will the restaurants open?
Freddy’s has identified August as the expected opening period but has not announced an exact date for each restaurant. Construction, inspections, staff training and final approvals can affect individual schedules.
Opening hours, phone numbers and ordering options should appear through Freddy’s restaurant locator when each location is ready. No grand-opening discounts, giveaways or special events have been confirmed.
Will the locations have drive-thrus?
Freddy’s has not published a service breakdown for all 10 restaurants. Traditional locations may offer dine-in seating, drive-thru service, carryout and mobile ordering, but customers should verify what is available at their nearest restaurant.
The Notre Dame and Utah Tech restaurants will operate inside student centers. Campus locations may have different menus, access rules and hours, particularly during academic breaks. Meal-plan eligibility has not been confirmed.
What students should know
The Notre Dame restaurant will be located inside the LaFortune Student Center. It will be operated by SK Weaver Holdings, led by franchise operator Ken Weaver.
At Utah Tech University, Freddy’s will occupy space in the Gardner Student Center previously used by Chick-fil-A. Students and employees should check university dining updates for confirmed hours and the first day of service.
Is Freddy’s hiring?
The company did not provide job totals or hiring schedules with the August announcement. Positions, pay, age requirements and application deadlines can vary by operator and state.
Jobseekers should search Freddy’s official careers system by city or street address and verify the restaurant before submitting personal information.
Why is Freddy’s expanding?
Freddy’s says it remains on pace to open approximately 60 restaurants in 2026 as its network approaches 600 locations. The chain currently operates more than 580 restaurants across the United States and Canada.
According to Freddy’s official 2026 development announcement, priority regions include the Northeast, Rust Belt, Midwest, Pacific Northwest, Northern California and Florida.
Approximately one-third of existing franchisees are expanding into additional territories. Freddy’s is also adding in-line and endcap restaurants alongside standalone buildings, giving operators more flexibility when choosing properties.
The company says investment begins at approximately $854,834 for an in-line restaurant, compared with about $1.59 million for a freestanding location. Actual costs can vary.
The strategy reflects a broader push by consumer brands to enter new regional markets, including IKEA’s planned Westlake store in Northeast Ohio and the introduction of Starbucks’ orange cream summer drinks nationwide.
Recent openings and menu details
The August rollout follows Freddy’s first Kalamazoo, Michigan, restaurant, which opened July 21 at 4615 W. Main Street. A second Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, restaurant opened July 28.
Freddy’s is known for cooked-to-order steakburgers, shoestring fries, all-beef hot dogs and frozen custard. Its menu also includes chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, onion rings, cheese curds, shakes, malts, sundaes and concretes.
The chain was founded in Wichita, Kansas, in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon and business partner Scott Redler. It was named after Bill and Randy’s father, Freddy Simon.
Customers should confirm the opening date, hours, services and any local promotion before travelling to a new restaurant.
