LSU has added another key piece through the transfer portal, landing former Tennessee EDGE rusher Jordan Ross as the Tigers continue reshaping their roster for the 2026 season.
The news was first reported by On3’s Transfer Portal coverage, with Ross becoming one of LSU’s latest portal additions during a busy offseason in Baton Rouge.
What Ross Did at Tennessee
Ross spent two seasons at Tennessee, posting 26 tackles, two pass deflections, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. While the raw production was limited, his upside has always been the story — Ross arrived in college with a big reputation and the physical traits teams look for at EDGE.
Before enrolling at Tennessee, Ross was rated as a five-star prospect in the 2024 class and ranked among the top overall players nationally in recruiting evaluations, coming out of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
LSU’s Portal Build Under Lane Kiffin
Ross’s commitment is another sign of how aggressively LSU is attacking the transfer portal under new head coach Lane Kiffin. Kiffin moved quickly after taking the LSU job, assembling staff and targeting immediate-impact pieces across the roster.
In comments from his introductory press conference, Kiffin pointed to LSU’s national pull — the stadium, the brand, and the SEC stage — as major advantages in modern roster-building where portal recruiting can change a team fast.
Why This Move Matters for LSU
LSU is chasing a return to the College Football Playoff for the first time since its 2019 national championship run. With expectations always high in Baton Rouge, the Tigers are using the portal to add depth, competition, and athletic upside — and Ross fits that approach as a high-ceiling EDGE option.
For Ross, the switch offers a fresh start in the SEC and a chance to carve out a bigger role in a defense that values speed off the edge. If he develops quickly, he could push into LSU’s rotation and give the Tigers another pass-rush tool.
