Morrisons Issues Urgent ‘Do Not Eat’ Warning After Glass Found in Popular Snack

Morrisons shoppers are being urged to check their cupboards after the supermarket recalled a budget snack product over a possible glass contamination risk.

The recall affects Morrisons Savers Cashews 125g, which were sold in stores across England, Scotland and Wales. The product may contain pieces of glass, making it unsafe to eat. Customers who have bought the affected packs should not consume them and should return them to their nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.

The warning has been issued through the Food Standards Agency, which publishes official food safety alerts when products sold to the public may pose a risk.

Which Morrisons cashew packs are affected?

The recall only applies to Morrisons Savers Cashews 125g with the following best-before dates:

  • 9 August 2026
  • 6 September 2026
  • 26 September 2026
  • 28 September 2026
  • 9 October 2026

No other Morrisons products have been named as affected by the issue.

The FSA said shoppers who have bought the recalled cashews should not eat them. Instead, they should take the product back to the nearest Morrisons store, where a full refund will be provided.

Morrisons is also displaying notices in stores that sold the item. These notices explain the reason for the recall and give customers instructions on what to do if they have already purchased the affected packs.

A Morrisons spokesperson apologised for the inconvenience and said the company remains committed to maintaining high standards of product quality and safety.

Food recalls involving glass are treated seriously because even small fragments can cause cuts, choking or internal injury if swallowed. That is why customers are advised not to taste the product to check whether it is affected.

The safest step is to compare the product name, pack size and best-before date against the recall notice. If the details match, the product should be kept away from children and returned to store.

In the UK, food products can be withdrawn from shelves when a safety issue is found before wider sale. A recall goes further by asking customers who may already have bought the item to return it. The FSA uses recall notices to alert consumers, retailers and local authorities when action is needed.

The Morrisons alert comes as the supermarket is also preparing a staged pay increase for shop workers following an agreement with Usdaw. Staff pay is set to rise from ÂŁ12.71 an hour to ÂŁ13 in July, before increasing again to ÂŁ13.11 in October. The deal was backed by 91.87% of voting workers.

Eligible hourly paid employees will also receive a one-off payment of between £25 and £175, depending on contracted hours. The move puts Morrisons alongside major UK retailers including Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Primark, which have also raised pay rates following the latest National Living Wage increase.

For shoppers, however, the immediate concern is the cashew recall. Anyone with Morrisons Savers Cashews 125g at home should check the best-before date before eating them.
