Pokémon Champions has made its biggest move since launch, arriving on iOS and Android with a major competitive update, a limited-time Mega Raichu giveaway, and a fresh ranked season designed to bring mobile and Nintendo players into the same battle ecosystem.
The free-to-play battle simulator launched worldwide on mobile on June 17, 2026, following its Nintendo Switch debut on April 8. The mobile version arrives with Version 1.1.0, which adds eleven new Mega Evolutions, two new Raichu Mega Stones, cross-save support, Regulation Set M-B, and the start of Ranked Battle Season m-3.
Unlike a traditional Pokémon RPG, Pokémon Champions is built around competitive play. There are no story routes, Gym Leaders, or exploration chapters. The game is centered on Ranked Battles, Casual Battles, and Private Battles across Singles and Doubles formats, making this mobile launch especially important for players who want quick access to official-style Pokémon battles.
Pokémon Champions Mobile Launch Expands the Player Base
The iOS and Android release opens Pokémon Champions to a much wider audience than the Switch version alone. Mobile players can now battle against users on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 through shared cross-platform matchmaking.
Progress is tied to a Nintendo Account, allowing players to move between devices without starting over. A player can build a team on Switch, continue progression on a phone, and keep the same roster, ranked history, and save data across supported platforms.
This cross-save model is one of the most important features of the mobile release. It reduces friction for returning players and gives new mobile users a route into competitive Pokémon without needing to remain locked to one device.
Free Mega Raichu Reward Includes Raichunite X and Raichunite Y
To mark the launch, all players can claim a free Raichu through the in-game mailbox. The gift also includes Raichunite X and Raichunite Y, two Mega Stones introduced with the new update.
The claim window runs until September 1, 2026, at 9:49 PM ET. Players should pay attention to the exact cutoff time, because the deadline is not simply midnight in every region. Missing the window could mean losing the only confirmed free route to these items during the launch event.
Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y are designed for different battle roles. Mega Raichu X uses Electric Surge, which activates Electric Terrain when it enters battle. That can strengthen Electric-type attacks for grounded Pokémon and block sleep conditions while the terrain remains active.
Mega Raichu Y uses No Guard, making moves used by or against it connect reliably. That creates a more aggressive but riskier style of play, especially for trainers relying on powerful attacks that normally have lower accuracy.
Version 1.1.0 Adds Eleven Mega Evolutions
The Version 1.1.0 update adds Mega Eelektross, Mega Pyroar, Mega Scolipede, Mega Scrafty, Mega Malamar, Mega Barbaracle, Mega Dragalge, Mega Staraptor, Mega Falinks, Mega Raichu X, and Mega Raichu Y.
This is more than a roster expansion. Several of the new forms arrive with abilities that had not appeared before in the franchise, giving Pokémon Champions a larger role in shaping new competitive content rather than only adapting older mechanics.
That shift matters because Mega Evolutions have usually been associated with mainline Pokémon releases. By introducing new Mega forms directly inside Champions, The Pokémon Company is giving the battle simulator its own influence over the competitive meta.
The patch also brings the Pokémon and held items needed for Regulation Set M-B and includes fixes for visual and network stability issues that were reported after the Switch launch.
Season m-3 and Regulation M-B Change Ranked Battles
The mobile launch arrives at the same time as Ranked Battle Season m-3. All player ranks have been reset, giving mobile newcomers and existing Switch players a fresh start on the ladder.
Season m-3 runs until June 30 at 9:59 PM ET. Champion Tier and Master Ball Tier ranks 1 through 3 will open on June 24, giving players time to settle into the new format before the highest ranks become available.
Regulation Set M-B expands the available Pokémon and held item pool beyond the earlier Regulation M-A format, which shaped the first two months of play. The new ruleset remains active until September 1, 2026, at 9:49 PM ET, the same deadline attached to the free Raichu gift.
Pokémon HOME Support Gives Players More Team Options
Players can build teams through Pokémon Champions’ Victory Points system or transfer eligible Pokémon using Pokémon HOME. Supported sources include Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon GO, though availability depends on the active Regulation Set.
This matters for competitive players because team-building depth is central to Champions. The ability to bring in eligible Pokémon from other games gives longtime players more flexibility, while the in-game recruitment system gives newer users a way to participate without relying entirely on past collections.
Fans receiving the Canari costume through the Season m-3 Battle Pass may already be familiar with the character from Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension, another recent Pokémon release tied closely to Mega Evolution and high-level team building.
Battle Pass, Monetization, and Competitive Fairness
Pokémon Champions uses a free-to-start model with optional purchases. Revenue comes from cosmetic items, a paid membership that speeds Victory Points gains, and seasonal Battle Pass content.
The Season m-3 Battle Pass includes Mega Stones for Starmie, Eelektross, and Metagross, along with a Canari costume from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Based on the launch information available, purchasable items are not described as giving a direct battle advantage during matches.
That distinction is important for a competitive game. Players may accept cosmetics and faster progression more easily than systems that directly affect match outcomes, especially when the title is connected to official tournament play.
Why the Mobile Launch Matters for Competitive Pokémon
The timing of this release gives Pokémon Champions added weight. The 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, scheduled for August 28–30, will use Pokémon Champions across platforms.
That means strategies being tested now in Season m-3 and Regulation M-B could influence the competitive scene ahead of the biggest Pokémon tournament of the year. Mobile players are entering the same shared ecosystem used by console players and top-level competitors.

The launch is not without challenges. The Switch version received criticism for performance issues and a Pokémon HOME transfer problem after release, and Pokémon Champions will need steady updates to keep both casual and ranked players engaged. Version 1.1.0 addresses some technical concerns, but long-term trust will depend on stability, balance, and fair progression.
Still, the iOS and Android launch gives Pokémon Champions its clearest opportunity yet to become the main home for competitive Pokémon battles. With free Mega Raichu rewards, eleven new Mega Evolutions, cross-save support, Pokémon HOME integration, and a new ranked season, the update gives both new and returning players a strong reason to enter the arena now.
