The NSW Government lists two main Sydney Harbour program windows for Australia Day 2026: 11:45am to 2:15pm and 7:00pm to 10:00pm. The daytime program includes harbour activity, the Harbour Parade and aerial displays, while the evening period brings another large crowd window around the water.

Boating restrictions on Sydney Harbour
Boaters should check the exclusion zones before launching. Temporary restrictions apply across parts of Sydney Harbour on Sunday, 25 January and Monday, 26 January to keep ferries, event vessels and emergency services moving safely.
- Sunday, 25 January: Sydney Cove full closure from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, then limited access from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
- Monday, 26 January: Rose Bay area from Milk Beach to Woollahra Sailing Club restricted from 7:30am to 10:30am.
- Monday, 26 January: Sydney Harbour Bridge to east of Fort Denison restricted from 11:45am to 12:45pm.
- Monday, 26 January: Sydney Cove restricted from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
There are no additional Spit Bridge opening times for the Australia Day event, so vessel operators travelling between Middle Harbour and North Harbour should follow the normal schedule.
