T-Mobileâs fiber internet service, branded as T-Fiber, faced a major overnight outage that left customers reporting lost connections, slow speeds and long waits for support. Complaints appeared to rise early Thursday, with users saying the disruption affected home internet access during the early morning hours.
According to Downdetector, outage reports increased around 1 AM ET on May 28, eased briefly, then rose again near 4 AM as more customers reported service problems. Some users said their internet stopped completely, while others described partial access where only certain apps or websites continued working.

The outage added fresh pressure on T-Mobileâs fiber expansion. T-Fiber was formerly Lumos Fiber, a regional broadband provider that became part of T-Mobileâs wider push into wired home internet. T-Mobile completed a $950 million investment into the joint venture in early 2025 as it moved to compete more directly with cable and fiber providers.
For customers, the timing is sensitive. Home internet reliability now affects remote work, streaming, gaming and small business payments, making overnight outages more than a minor inconvenience. Some affected users said they were frustrated not only by the service disruption but also by unclear communication from support channels.
