Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) has posted an inclement-weather operations update for Monday, January 12, 2026, with several locations affected by delayed openings while most campuses remain open.
Delayed openings (closed until 10:30 a.m.)
NSCC lists the following locations as closed with a delayed opening until 10:30 a.m. on January 12:
- Cumberland Campus — delayed opening until 10:30 a.m.
- Amherst Learning Centre — delayed opening until 10:30 a.m.
- Truro Campus — delayed opening until 10:30 a.m.
Other campuses
As of the latest NSCC update, other campuses and learning centres listed on the closures page are marked open, including major sites such as Akerley, Ivany, Kingstec, the Institute of Technology, Sydney Waterfront, and eCampus. Students and staff are encouraged to keep checking the official page for changes as conditions evolve.
What “campus closed” means for classes and services
NSCC notes that when a campus is closed due to weather, all on-campus classes are cancelled. However, online classes continue unless students are told otherwise by their faculty. Student services—such as advising, counselling, registrarial support, and learning supports—may still be available online or by phone where possible.
How NSCC communicates closures
Closure decisions are communicated through email and the NSCC closures page. NSCC says that if a closure occurs before regular business hours, efforts are made to communicate the decision by 6:30 a.m.. If a closure happens during the day, NSCC will notify the community of the time a site will close and ask people on campus to depart.
Travel concerns
Even if a campus remains open, NSCC advises that anyone unable to travel safely should contact their instructor or supervisor to arrange alternatives.
