LOGANHOLME, Queensland, October 24, 2026 — Four people were taken to hospital after gunfire erupted outside Fitzy’s Loganholme during a boxing event on Saturday night, with witnesses describing screams and spectators scrambling for safety.
Queensland Police said officers were called to the licensed venue on Bryants Road, south of Brisbane, about 8:15 p.m. AEST following reports of shots being fired. Australian media reported that the gunfire came from a vehicle that left the scene.
“Four people have been injured and transported to hospital; their conditions are currently being assessed,” police said in a statement reported by news.com.au.
Police also said they did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the public. No arrests had been reported in the coverage available at the time of this update.
Witnesses describe screams outside boxing event
Fitzy’s was hosting the Logan City Titles Fights, promoted as an Australian National Boxing Federation event featuring 12 amateur and professional bouts, according to The Courier-Mail.
Tyler Florance, 18, from Redland Bay, told the newspaper he was cleaning his car across the road when he heard what sounded like three or four gunshots.
“We could hear a lot of screaming,” he said.
Spectator Van Carrol said he initially did not recognise the sounds as gunfire. He described seeing people gathered around injured individuals before moving away with his brother.
The brothers had bought tickets to watch a friend fight. Carrol said the presence of young competitors made the incident particularly confronting.
“There were kids, teenagers, fighting so it was pretty shocking,” he told the newspaper.
Other accounts described attendees sheltering in rooms while emergency crews responded. The newspaper reported that staff leaving later that night embraced colleagues and loved ones waiting outside.
Serious injuries reported as police investigate vehicle fire
The Courier-Mail reported that one person suffered a gunshot wound to the head, two were shot in the abdomen and another was shot in the arm. Those individual injury details were not included in the police statement quoted above.
The Australian, citing police sources, reported that multiple victims had life-threatening injuries. The available reports did not provide a subsequent medical update or publicly identify the four patients.
The Courier-Mail also reported that the vehicle involved was found burning in Waterford West a short time after the shooting. Details of its ownership, occupants and the evidence linking it to the attack had not been publicly outlined in the reports reviewed.
At Fitzy’s, police photographed apparent bullet damage around the entrance and placed evidence markers inside the premises. Blood was visible on glass panels near the entry, according to the newspaper’s reporting from the scene.
The Australian described the shooting as a suspected targeted attack. However, an intended victim and a motive had not been publicly identified. The fact that a boxing event was taking place does not establish that the attack was connected to the competition or its participants.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses can contact Policelink, while information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers Queensland on 1800 333 000.
Latest available position: Four people were hospitalised, with serious injuries reported by Australian media. No arrests or confirmed fatalities were reported in the coverage reviewed, and the investigation was continuing.
