FOXBOROUGH, Mass. â Ed Sheeranâs two Gillette Stadium concerts scheduled for Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, have been canceled as a powerful norâeaster threatens Massachusetts with heavy rain and damaging wind gusts.

The decision affects thousands of fans who were preparing to attend the LOOP Tour shows in Foxborough. Stadium and tour officials had been monitoring the forecast with public-safety authorities before calling off both nights.
Organizers said the decision was made because of the severe-weather threat and concerns for fans, staff and everyone involved in staging the concerts.
Both Gillette Stadium shows are canceled
Sheeran was scheduled to perform at Gillette Stadium at 8 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
The concerts would have marked his first return to the venue since 2023 and were expected to be his eighth and ninth performances at Gillette Stadium.
Plans began changing before the cancellation was announced. Stage construction was reportedly halted Thursday as the approaching storm became more serious and organizers reviewed whether the large outdoor production could safely continue.
For a stadium concert, strong winds can create risks well before showtime because crews must work around temporary stages, lighting rigs, suspended equipment and other large structures.
Foxborough faces heavy rain and strong winds
The weather threat is expected to last through much of the weekend.
The National Weather Service in Boston has warned of strong winds across parts of southern New England as the norâeaster moves through the region.
Forecasts around Foxborough have called for northeast winds around 15 to 25 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 35 to 50 mph. Periods of heavy rain could also lead to difficult travel and isolated power outages.
The timing meant organizers had to make a decision before large numbers of fans began traveling to the stadium.

Ticket refunds are available
Fans who purchased tickets for either canceled show are eligible for refunds.
According to the stadium statement reported with the cancellation, refunds are available through the original point of purchase.
Ticket holders who purchased directly through Ticketmaster are expected to receive automatic refunds. Anyone who bought tickets through another resale platform should check that sellerâs cancellation policy and refund process.
No replacement dates for the Gillette Stadium concerts were announced with the cancellation.
Shows were already under extra attention
The Foxborough concerts had been attracting attention even before the severe-weather threat because of changes surrounding Sheeranâs supporting lineup.
Macklemore was removed from the tour following controversy over repeated âFree Palestineâ comments during earlier performances. The dispute was followed by other performers reportedly leaving the tour, while Sheeran continued with a Philadelphia concert without the originally planned lineup.
The controversy had already raised questions around the Gillette shows after Ed Sheeran addressed the growing tour dispute.
Macklemore later announced his own Free Palestine Tour after leaving Sheeranâs tour.
A Massachusetts advocacy group was also reportedly planning a protest connected with Saturdayâs concert.
Those developments are background to the weekendâs events, but they are not the stated reason the concerts were canceled. Organizers specifically cited the severe-weather forecast and public-safety concerns.
